Craig's Story
Where do I start? How about high school. I dropped out my first year at Washington HS, and received two credits that year both for work experience. Restarted the next year at Mt Tahoma, lasted about a year and a half there, then moved to Mt Vernon where I graduated in 1984.
Went to DeVry tech in Phoenix for their Electronics program. Quickly ran out of money and moved to So Hill Puyallup. Started working for Fairchild Semiconductor (which soon became National Semiconductor) in 1987. Received an Associate Degree from Pierce College in 1990. Got laid off from National when Matsushita bought the plant.
Worked for the Lazy-B (Boeing) from 1990-1993 first as a Laser safety officer, then as an Electronic Calibration/Certification tech. Got laid off there during the recession of 1993. That's when I realized that electronics was a great hobby, but a lousy career.
Started working for Group Health in 1993 as a SAS Programmer and Data Analyst. Progressed to Data Warehouse Administrator then Director of Operations for the Data Warehouse. Stayed there until 2000 when I moved to Russell Investments d...Expand for more
owntown Tacoma. Been there ever since. Am currently managing a small team of application developers and really enjoying the job.
For fun, I love spending time on the water. Waterskiing, whitewater kayaking, windsurfing, fishing, or just about anything on the water. I haven't spent nearly enough time on the water lately, but still look forward to all of the above. If I can't be on the water, that's fine - just get me outdoors. Love to hike and camp, pull scotch broom (there's a whole 'nother story behind that), and plant trees.
Been spending most of my time lately with my son in scouts (he's almost an eagle now), building a cabin on the Cowlitz River between Toledo and Ethel, WA and tending the property down there as well as remodeling a recently purchased house on So Hill.
When my boy graduates, finishes his eagle and my building and remodeling projects are done, then I will hopefully be spending more time at water sports, hiking, and fishing.
What have you been up to? Send me note and say hi. I haven't been great at keeping in touch with long lost friends and it's about time I fix that!
