Craig's Story
Life in General.
Who would have thought we would have made it this long? Not me, thats for sure!
I'm just living the dream..........
Still going to Mexico, as much as I can, and even managed to backpack across it in '98. (P.V. to Cancun)
Wrote a few aricles on out of the way and hard to find
spots for specific web sites and have won a few small awards for photos I've shot.
Still playing with cars.
A few years after THS, I found myself head first into the car business and it wasn't long that I found myself tied up back into off road racing. First desert , then short course/stadium. What a kick! It wasn't until we moved across the street from
a national, asphalt, circle track champion (shall remain nameless) a few years back, that I was talked into to trying roundy-round cars. One lap and I was hooked! After building, driving and sponsering my own car for a few years, I was invited (see namless driver above) into what was to become quite a lethal partnership for west coast dirt tracks. From '06 to '08 we never received anything less then a 2nd place overall for the entire year.
Stepping into the car myself and driving under his name w/o anybody noticing a lack of driving skills (ok, not much anyway) has truely been the ultimate little 'cherry' on this racing cake of mine. :)
As a side note, we were aproached to do a car for the "minors", if you will, for a large NASCAR team. After long talks and a lot of beer it was decided we kind of like our measly lifes and don't care for the grind of life on the road for a race team. IN other words.....we're getting too old to be away from our own beds that much. Besides that 'no beer in the pits' rule is for suckers.
Fun Time.

are time left and you'll find me relaxing at our little casa on the beach, south of the border, taking short diversions to out of the way fishing villages for tacos, beers and stories from good people about bad roads. If there's a SCORE Baja race going on, we're probibly at it OR in it. You can also find us camping in the Redwoods up north or backpacking somewheres along the 395 area.
My best friend and the 'now'
20+ years married to my best friend and #1 fan. What can I say? At 5'11 she had me at hello! She loves cars, dogs, hiking, a good off-road adventure, the smell of race fuel and can drive the wheels off her Baja bug. She loves running and I make every race for her I can (as she does for mine).
Work hard, play harder.
20ish years in the Corona/Riverside area now raising avocados at our little ranch for some local stands.(All those years of dabbling in horticulture paid off, huh Mitch?)
For the past few years, in my spare time, I go to work as a firefighter for one of the local departments, along with a bunch of other THS grads (not to mention a few from Guinn Foss and Columbus Tustin! What a kick!!!) Making a difference and helping someone out of a jam is really a great high!
Got a few Dobies and Rottis. All are rescues from high kill shelters or abandoned for dead by the owners and nursed back by us.
Remember......'Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally brokedown and worn out shouting, " Holy poop.........what a ride"!'
........oh and 'the only difference between an ordeal and an adventure is your atittude'.
...................somethings will never change.
peace.
