Creston's Story
After 20 years in the Air Force and 25 as a Federal employee with the Defense Department, I retired in August '08 and worked for Booz Allen on a government consultancy contract. At the end of May 09, I retired again, took off the entire summer, hired on with Summit Solutions, LLC. I retired for good on December 31, 2012, and my wife Jeanne and I moved to Leland, NC, when our new home was completed in November 2012. We enjoyed our empty nest lifestyle. Jeanne was a retired elementary physed teacher, having taught in Frederick County, MD for over 40 years. We were so happy together until tragedy struck and cancer took her away from me in May 2022.
Before retiring in North Carolina, I lived in Texas, Georgia, Japan, Germany, Turkey, Virgini...Expand for more
a and Maryland.
Things I do to blow off steam: flying, reading, genealogy, TV, walking, vacations in Hawaii, woodworking, gardening, and honey-dos.
My inspirations come from my family -- my parents, and relatives who served in the military.
Wierdest jobs: While stationed in Georgia, I had a part time job in the NCO Club "weighing the bar," which means I inventoried the liquor supply. I was also a certified AMF Bowling Machine mechanic at one time.
My first job was at the Clearfield Cheese factory in Curwensville. I was paid $1.85 per hour to process cheese and corn meal mush. What I remember most about it is the reason we were hired -- to vote against the union coming in. I voted for the union, and was laid off the day after the election.
