Cristy's Story
Life
During my travel assignments I dreamed of having my own place and never having to move again. That home is with my husband in Anderson, SC. We are living in my grandparents old house. It has such wonderfull memories for me. I only hope my family can be as happy as my grandparents made us. We Currently have 3 kids (our dogs): pebbles (chihuahua), Brindle (shi-tzu), and Sheba (sharpei). We will try to have children withing the next 1-2 years. We are very happy living back close to my family.
Workplace
After graduating I went to work at Oconee Memorial hospital on the ob/gyn/labor and delivery floor. I stayed there for a year and then became a travel nurse. As a travel nurse you decide where you want to go and for how long you want to stay. A usuall assignment is 3-6 months. I had the following assignments: Duke University, NC- 6 months; york, Maine for 3 months; Honolulu, Hawaii-6 months;...Expand for more
Charleston, SC- 1.5 years; Savanah, GA- 1 year. Everyone asks me which was my favorite travel assignment. Hawaii was great but it definitely doesnt compare to Charleston. That is where I met my wonderful husband. I am currently back at Oconee on my original floor until my husband and I open up our own business.
Military
I joined the National Guard my junior year of highschool and attended boot camp that summer. I then went to camp after I graduated but went home early due to receiving a full scholarship to Clemson from the Army. I participated in ROTC in college and was 2nd in my class. I was 1 chosen out of 10 from the east coast in ROTC sent to Germany for 4 week nursing training. There is were I delivered my first baby and decided to be a labor and delivery nurse. Later I received a medical discharge due to a genetic problem with my back. It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget.
