Crystal's Story
School
I attended the following schools Reeves, Holcomb, Emerson, and Redford. I moved to California after my 9th grade at Redford in late 87. I lived on 6 mile and Rosemont while in Detroit. Some of the kids in my neighborhood were Marcus and Strody Hutchinson, Donielle and Troy Bryant, Carlotta and Nicole Turner. We walked on 6 mile just about everyday to go to Rosedale corner store or DQ (6 mile and outer drive). Also, I lived by St. Scholistica privite school but we had access to the field which was on outer drive. While attending Redford I remember hanging out in the halls a lot, and getting in trouble. Also, I remember all the fights and shoot outs that took place at school. Redford was rough especially compared to schools in Cali. My friends at the time were Tameko Parker, Trecie, Donielle Bryant. I also had a boyfriend at the time by the name of Terrance West. I used to wear these Laura Bigetto (sp) glasses and had a short hair cut...you know back then it was short on one side and long on the other!
At Emerson, I remember Mrs. Crawford which I think she taught Science. Some of the classmates that I remember are...Expand for more
Robert Bell, Floyd, Kendrick,Reggie, Winston, and Omar. I hung out with Maria Martin, Kimberly Payne, and Aquila Lucus. We had so much fun at Emerson. I also remember a crazy teacher Mrs. Thomas who taught English...well she was suppose to teach English. I remember she really did not teach much and let us do nothing in class. The fashion at that time were the colored Levis, Calvin Klein jeans, and silk shirts. I also remember for my 8th grade picture I had finger waves but I was still fly!
While I was at Holcomb I remember that the boys used to talk about how fine my mother was! Some names that I remember are Sharon, Lisa Chatman, Kalicatu, and Tabatha. The one memory that sticks out is a fashion show that we had at Holcomb and I had this baby blue ruffled dress on. I also remember Mrs. Thomas the music teacher and having to sing the black national anthem in her class. The style at that time was long prarie skirts and ruffled blouses. I remember playing kick ball and baseball at school.
If any of this sound familar to you, please feel free to send me an email. I would love to reconnect with some of my old classmates.
