Life
Dumela (Hello in Setswana)
Currently I am a long way from home (smile) but having the time of my life. Both of my children are grown and own their own. Almost two years ago I was working as a Director at a hospital in Florida. I cannot complain it was a good job with great benefits, great salary great location. However I just started having this feeling that there was something else that god wanted me to do with my life. I could not put my finger on it I just knew that it was something I needed to be doing.
One afternoon I was surfing on the net when I notice the advertisement for the Peace Corps. You know the one  life is calling how far will you go Well I went to the website and started reading about the Peace Corps etc. I was really intrigued until I pulled up the application and oh my goodness I took one look and said forget it!
However about two weeks later I went back to the website and really thought seriously about which program and where I would like to goÂ
Then I stopped because I needed to call my daughters and they said I should go for it. So not to be daunted I pulled up the application and started on that long journey. ust receive an official invitation to serve in the Peace Corps which I accepted. My friends who really knew me were not surprised but I did get a lot of comments like ÂI canÂt believe you are leaving your great job to go to Africa for two years serve in the Peace Corps and not get paidÂ. I said yes and that is exactly what I am doing.
I am currently serving in Botswana a small African country located just above South Africa. My group was the first group in Botswana to work in the NGO Capacity Building Program. We have been assigned to Non Governmental Organizations doing organizational development which here in Africa is many things! Originally there were ten of us but Africa does have the highest attrition rate for a variety of reasons so now that service is almost over there are four of us left. My Peace Corps Service ends in November. We did have the option to leave early so the rest of my group is leaving in August but I am staying until Nov to complete my service. Plus I want to be a little further along in the library project. There are so many stories to tell but not enough timeÂ
.
I am sending a video hello to Rosemary that she will show it at the reunion. I wish all of you many blessings enjoy yourselves and be safe.
