Curtis's Story
Graduation summer of "63" Gary Angell and I left Chula Vista for San Francisco. Gary and I attended Submarine School there for 16 weeks. I can¿t remember where he was sent (Hawaii I think), But I was off to Charleston S.C. for east coast re-assignment.
First command...USS Becuna SS319¿¿.. Last Cruise was aboard the USS Gato SSN615 in February 1971. During that time managed to get married, accumulate 4 children and a degree in electrical engineering.
After my discharge I did a stint with the DOD and some contract work for a little group in Langley Va. developing covert surveillance equipment.
By this time I had seen about all I wanted to of the east coast, so we packed up the swing set, and moved back...Expand for more
to San Diego, where I went to work for Campbell Marine and then Supervisor of Shipbuilding at the 32nd street naval station.
Somehow, over the next several years I hooked up with Lockheed Missiles and Space. I stayed with them for the 17 years until my retirement at Kennedy Space Center where I was the head of electrical / electronic Research and Development.
Still very happily married to Cheryl who is a clinical pharmacist, and together we are still raising the last 2 of the 7 children. The youngest (Eric) is still in college getting his degree in computer technology and second youngest(Rachel) who was an executive souse chef with Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, is getting married (by me) in April of 2010
