Cynthia's Story

I hope old friends remember me as serious as well as fun loving and a little romantic. I did have a boyfriend in school for a while and I hope he has nice memories of me. I would enjoy meeting him again and know how he and his family ( if he has one ) are. Some of my best friends were in sports ,both men and women. I wish I could have met more of the football team and was once a program seller during the games. Such a wonderful time it was. Too bad can't go back to relive the times. I always wanted to be a gym teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. But although I finished 2 years of college and went into the Navy reserves I met the man who was to be my future husband and when we married we transfered all over the nation and Guam as he was in the Navy so I never got a degree. I never felt bad about not finishing and never let my husband feel guilty because I never graduated. At work I sometimes get angry but am doing much better . I like to read, exercise spend time with friends and have a beer or two every now and then and sometimes I like to be by myself outside or even when around others--just observe how people act and how our pets play and even eat.I'm retired from the Navy Exchange on Oahu, HI since 2013 after 26 yrs. but bank to work at a security company G4S because unless you have many $ you can't live on puny retirement alone. Now been working 5 days of 12 hr shifts..20 hrs of O/T each week which comes in good use to pay Down maintenance fees etc. Husband passed in 2004 and only child a son passed in 2010 both of heart attacks. Son's wife and I both devistated over lose of our lose. Great & loving & loyal men they were. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have patients, prayer, and friendliness to be able to deal with the daily grind. I guess my hero would be my late husband, Dale, as he helped me to mature and grow up and would listen and offer advice when I asked him for his ideas. And my other hero is God who helps me through all kinds of troubles I stumble on. I have lived in California, Virginia, South Carolina, Key West,FL, Guam, Hawaii. Kept moving as my husband was in the Navy and I am still here until I decide I can afford to move to the mainland. Our son lives in Wabash, IN. and wants me to move there. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Dennis and Bill, because because one I loved and one I did not get a chance to.. Pro Football, some college games, both mens and womens, Survivor,Dancing with the Stars, Sometimes American Idol , but since I work at night I don't get to watch them very often. I like cats, some types of dogs and birds, horses. I think my biggest surprise was that I found my man when I did when my siblings were losing theirs after years of marriage. Ours lasted because we trusted and forgave and loved even when hurt and did not have family close to help so we did it ourselves. It takes time and real caring to make it work so you really grow together as one. No wonder a heart can break after the death of a spouse--it is pretty easy to will yourself to die just as a loving pet can do if it loses a favorite owner. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel Kitchen and add on a new stove and refrigerator and new cabinet doors. My dream home would be in a quiet area and built with strong wood double wall ,high ceiling, master loft bedroom that opens to outside terrace for private dining and sunning.. Our son, John has helped me by comforting me and helping me learn this computer by remote assistance. Just listening to his voice is comforting. His wife Jennifer says he sounds like his Dad. John has learned by watching me and his father solve our problems in differing opinions. Too bad he and his father did not get a chance to learn computers earlier in their lives. If I won $100 million, I'd give My church some of it to tithe and, then spend the rest on on my son and my sister and...Expand for more
my friend who is like a sister to my in my heart, and credit debt and pay off my mortgage and get a new house in Indiana for all of us. To be truly happy I would be with a loving man, possibly married to each other, with wills made out to support which either would die. We would be fishing traveling in a big RV every now and then and enjoying our families and friends and making new ones. Living away from the inner city and quiet but close enough to get medical help and shopping and supplies. My current age is 64. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be unhappy, very slow and boring and sometimes mean. I was so completely wrong. Maybe some are but most are very smart and still learning and physically active and love even if it is not as wildly as when young. Enduring and loving forever . I want to continue at the Navy Exchange for a few more years and when I am ready to move on I will retire and just work when I want. My first crush was in Junior High and his brother broke it up. I guess he was jealous or something.WE went to movies many times . My best friend would tell you I'm kind and friendly , but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as standoffish and quiet. I am still slender and can fit into many styles from then but I mostly dress to my age and style that I am comfortable with. I share my home with my 3 cats , my sister and her three birds and we mostly get along, which I find amazing for cats usually kill or chase birds , and my sister and I are identical twins and we can get into some petty heated arguments. I have a few game balls from when I played in a league with military women and wives when I was an adult and a few ribbons and medals from AAU track and field while in high school and earned a Letter from Mesa College in San Diego for being a charter member of the womens athletic association there , and from playing some of the sports that we could participate in back then. If I could do one thing over again I would re-join the Navy reserves when I had the chance in 1978 and then would be able to still go with my husband whenever he transfered but he said "no" so I did not. I really miss the smell of the base and ships and the action and the learning. I wonder if they would take an old lady back into the reserves? In 10 years, I hope to be less debt and have mortgage greatly reduced or my place rented out or sold. I'm going to get there by checking before last moment on how to do this and the best way to do this because I have a hard time missing about $1500.00 a month from my husband's pay and his guidance. Virginia Gonzales is my oldest friend even though she is 4 yrs. younger than I am. We have known and worked together for about 24 years and we got along well after sizing each other up and learning to trust keep our word to each other. It took a while as she is more cautious and I am more outgoing and need to be more careful with strangers which I can do now. That I stayed about the same weight although over a hundred now and that they would recognize me. I do some weight training but not as mush as I would like to as I have to work most of the time. My first job was at a Morman family as their babysitter, where I got paid $2.00 to $3.00. What I remember most about it is They were trusting and friendly and not pushy and that they were really surprised that I could run so fast on my slender "skinny" frame and was so into sports and went to college. A childhood memory that I will never forgot, among many, is the one when my father's mother died and we went to a private viewing and I was upset because she looked so different. I was a little scared I think. My favorite country singer is Kenny Chesney but I like many other country singers also. I like oldies and also some steel drums, christian, romantic, and music to dance slow to.I listen to a little reggae and R&B and I love hearing Etta James sing "At Last". So romantic and warm and loving and sexy.
