Cynthia's Story

hello everyone, hope all is well!!!!!! Wow how time goes by so fast, it just seem like we just graduated. What have I been up to?????? I went to OCC and got my associate degree in applied science and mental health, then went right on to wayne state university and recieved my bachelor in social work which was in May of 1994. This is when the story starts to get good and how in a split second your life can change for ever!!!!!!!! I was going on vacation to Minn in July 94, (just before going straight threw to get my master degree and had a job at children hospital in detroit) we were outside rockford, ILL when we was in a car accident, this left several surgies to fix the injuries but I would make it. I got a chance to go on vacation (dec 94) for some rehabilation for my injuries and that is when I met some of my closest friends I know who are family to me. I went back to mich in jan 95 and march 95 had moved to tampa, FL with a job in hand/apartment and a new journey in my life. I worked for several companies (3 total) before I really sat down and said what do I want to be when I grow up!!!!!!! I have always wanted to do something to help people and really make a difference in there lives. I narrow it down and being a firefighter was it. I went to HCC and got my EMT-B license then got my firefighting cert with them. I worked for a private ambulance company while attending FF school. Once I was done I got hired at Plant City Fire Rescue where I was a firefighter/EMT, while there I went with a coworker to mantee tech Ins to get my paramedic license (took about 1 year), which I got on march 16th 2006 (PCFR total 3 years about). on March 20th 2006 i started at Hillsborough Count...Expand for more
y Fire Rescue as a Firefighter/Paramedic (firemedic 1). I have to say I feel like I won the lotto as I can not believe I get a paycheck for doing this which is 24hr on and 48 hours off and every 3 weeks get 5 days off in a row!!!! To be able to help people and make a true difference like they were "dead" when you arrived and you & your crew are able to get them to hospital with pulse/breathing and a few days later they are dicharge and get to go home is truelly "PRICELESS" I also work at South Florida Baptist Hospital in the ER as at first a tech and now a paramedic. It is great experience and i have been there over 4 years! I am still single but was once engaged but got kicked to the curb and when I look back best thing ever happen. I enjoy going out with my friends to movies, dinner(especially if it my favorite meal sushi), sporting events, ride my motorcycle (2003 honda sahdow 750 XLT) with firefighter group, bowling on tuesday night on mix league. I just purchased a TRIKKE in the last month and half, which is a cross between bike and inline skating, you can google it to see what I am talking about and see a video of it. i am with the trikke tampa group and LOVE it. I have found it so relaxing and fun along with being a great physical workout. I have seen the benefits also and with the great weather here It is a win-win situation for me. I hope you all are well and this has caught you up on my life after clawson. I can say I have had my share of ups and downs, but don't let me fool you, over all it has been a great adventure. When life gave me lemons, I just went and made lemonade with them!!!!!!!!!!!!, and I Am NOW LIVIN THE DREAM!!!! Take Care for now cindy brown
