Cynthia's Story

What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion? Ans: I honestly can't think of anything. I feel like the same person. I definitely do not feel 42. I feel like I have aged well, although my kids will tell you differently; I am old!!!! I walk 6 miles a day and try to eat well so I consider myself a healthy person. But, I can't think of anything that would "surprise" people at the reunion. Which teacher would you love to see again? Why? I cannot remember the names of any of my teachers...I have faint memories of the name Sullivan (drivers ed or science???). I remember my drama teacher that was killed during our time there, and also my math teacher-- began with a ¿D¿ was killed in a motorcycle accident, I also remember my cheerleading coach. I remember the face of my typing teacher; no name. What was the wildest thing you ever did in school? I'm going to have to think about this. I have one but not sure I want to admit it. Can I still get in trouble? :) Let me think about it and I will come back. What happened to your first crush? Joe Cavanaugh was my first crush, 7th grade. Some things you will always remember. Then, Danny Proulx; my first kiss. After that my first love was Tim Glynn. I thought I would marry him. But, I asked him a question once like "if I got into an accident and was hurt severely for life, would you stay with me?" He couldn't answer it. His answer was "I don't know." From that point I knew it wouldn't work out. He cheated on me, we were young, and too young to be committed¿..nothing that didn¿t happen to most every other person out there before they met their sole mates. I ended up with the right person¿almost 21 years and counting! How do you hope old friends remember you? I hope they remember me as trusting, fun, sincere, and a friend for forever. Some of my best friends are from high school and we only talk once a year. But, they will also be a good friend. Jill Mckee Vitagliano-It's been 5 years since we have spoken (since my move to FL). I'm emailing you girl!!! Miss Ya! My other staples are Gia Sophia Angelo Milo, Karen Merrill Jordan. I have many others. What is really funny is how many people from school became my friends after through child association. My 2 boys hung out with children of other classmates. Those are some great memories too. To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom? OK, assuming I have to change everything I have right now, because I love my life and my family is my world, and I honestly wouldn¿t change one thing about it¿.. But, assuming this wasn¿t my life, or I was forced to take a break from this life, I think I would like to be on a reality show for a few months. Yes, I said a reality show. I can't tell you how many times I have printed the Big Brother application and not sent it in. There is no way I could leave my job and family for 3 months. But, assuming all things were different, and I had that opportunity, I would do it. I would even do Survivor, but reluctantly; I am...Expand for more
a makeup and blow dryer girl!! :) Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise? I guess just understanding how many people lean on me. How chaotic life can be. How much we need to multi task to be a good person, parent, worker, wife, etc. Again, I wouldn't change my life for anything. But, there are times I would just love to know that tomorrow is a free day of no phone calls or commitments and a day for only me. You get one do-over. What do you do differently? I wish I hadn't cared so much about what people thought of me in high school. I had so many great times and some of my best memories are from those days, but I took too many things to heart. Every once in a while I will pull out my old diaries and I let things back then bother me too much. It¿s easier said than done, and as an adult it¿s much easier to deal with. But, maybe that is what made me a stronger person today. What's the weirdest job you ever had? I don't think I had any weird jobs. I guess the strangest was at 13 picking up golf balls from Golf Land. 16-18 working at Tanorama and 18 working at Bickford¿s. Where have you lived? Why did you move? When I first got married my husband owned a condo at "Oakbrook Condos" in Manchester. We lived there for about a year while building a home in Bedford, N.H. and lived there until 2003 when we moved to Panama City Beach, Florida. Why did we move? Needed a huge change. Things just were not going right. My job industry had changed considerably and it was difficult to get a job in my field making the money that I wanted to make. I decided to return to college and studied for 2 full years (21 credits p/semester while raising a family) in Architectural Engineering only to wake up one day and say "why". I was an "A" student learning something I absolutely hated. Not only did I need to know the computer end of it (which I loved) and how to understand the building process head-to-toe, but I had to know the difference in 100 different types of nails and why you can only use Nail #1 with 3 different types of wood, and stuff like that. Wow, wrong field completely¿.I was living my husbands dream¿ So, going back to the one-do-over question above, I would have never spent 2 years of my life in college focusing on this career¿.Anyway, we visited Florida every year since being married and knew we would retire here. My husband had been asking to move for about 2 years. After deciding to quit college and not sure what was next, I woke up one day and said "lets go". He thought I was kidding. Our home sold immediately. I moved down six months before him and got my real estate license (great market here), while we had a home built at the beach. My husband was able to relocate with his company and moved down about 6 months later. I loved New Hampshire while I was there. I never thought I would move. But, I can honestly say that I feel like Panama City Beach is more like home than Bedford ever was. I can't imagine ever leaving here. We love it!
