Cynthia's Story
I've been living in California for almost a year. I moved last September because I was about to become a grandmother and decided I wanted to be a part of my granddaughter's life. It was the best decision I ever made. I love California, and feel as though I'm finally home. I was living in Sout Texas for a lot of years and enjoyed the weather and the relaxing pace, but decided it was time to move on.
I've had a couple of different careers, but most receintly, I'm working with Riverside County's Child Protective Services, getting involved in people's lives and trying to find ways of helping them get on their feet and enjoy their families. one was against her. I was able to tell her that we've all had problems and I'm there to help, but she has to do the work. I know more about drugs, jails, treatment programs then I ever thought possible growing up in middle class Wilmington. I also realize now that a lot went on then, that I just was oblivious to.
For fun I swim routinely at an indoor pool and when available outside in the sunshine. During my early days here, I explored the libraries and my favorite is the main branch at Newport Beach. I can go online and request books or drive over.
I'm still amazed by the traffic and I'm glad I have a car with enough pep to keep up.
