Cynthia's Story

Life It seems almost impossible to compress nearly forty years into a few words, but I will touch on the most pertinent aspects of the last four decades.I trust this won't read like one of those holiday newsletters we often receive. I'll omit every illness and trip to make this more palpable. I have been married to my second husband for thirty years (how time DOES fly), and I've lived in Ill., Maryland, N.C., and in my beloved Virginia for most of the last 20 yrs.I live in Manassas now, and I work in historic Occoquan. I am the decorator for an antique/gift shop. I did have my own business for a few years, bit decided to "retire" and let someone else worry about the business end of things. I still get to go on buying trips, which is great extreme shopping!!! I have one "child"...a son, Randall, who just turned thirty-five! I have enjoyed every minute of his life...he is my heart. He is an executive news producer for the CBS affiliate in Raleigh, N.C.He is great at his job...he has won two Emmy Awards! He is married to my beautiful daughter-in-law, Lynda-an anchorwoman. But the BEST part of my life now are my two darling grandchildren! Campbell is 2 1/2, and Caiden is 10 months.I call Campbell "Mighty Mouse", because tho she is a petite little lady....she is quite a life force.I am totally enthralled ! Caiden is just the opposite so far....happy to sit and watch his sister whirl around the house. This shall change, I'm sure! My only regret is that I don't live closer, but I'm working on that. I love N.C.....I would move there in a heartbeat.Unfortunately, my husband is not yet retired, so we'll stay here for a few more years. I spend my free time reading, shopping and lunching with friends, and gathering family together when I can. My mother passed away several years ago, and my father remarried and moved to Florida. I'm fortunate that I have some family still inh Maryland...Expand for more
, and some in N.C.I love to decorate m home...it's just a passion of mine.I am also an animal lover...especially dogs. We actually moved away from the city to have room for our dogs.I had huskys for twenty years, as well as a large mixed-breed. Alas, they are no longer here physically...but always ihn my heart.I now have a Miniature Schnauzer that I inherited two years ago from a friend that passed away.I'm currently working fewer hours to stay at home with him now that his health is failing. How I love these creatures that give us so much in return. Being home more has given me the opportunity to finally join Classmates.com....and spend the time reading messages and writing old friends. It's so good for the soul (AND the memory) to remember those years. Somehow it just can't seem possible that so many tears have melted away....and how good to restore some of the fond times.I trust all who happen upon this will write me a note to play catch-up .I wish you all well!!! Cynthia ( No, this is not an affectation...when I went to college I decided I didn't want to become and eighty-year-old "Cindi".Besides...my mother said so!)Because I wrote the profile several years ago, I think it's time to update a little. I now have three beautiful grandchildren! Campbell is now 5, Caiden is four, and sweet little Carys, is just two!!! Having had an only child, three grandchildren is certainly something special. I'm still working in Occoquan...I plan to keep on doing so. I really like having a busy life...my friends tell me I have adult ADHD. I attended the 40th reunion this past fall and had the best time catching up with long ago friends. The only shocking thing about the experience was the fact that FORTY years have past. But time slipped away once we reconnected. So please...keep me in your thoughts and drop me a line. I really would love to hear from one and all! Till then...Cynthia
