Cynthia's Story
After we all graduated from high school, Gloria Vanderberg and I went to Hawaii as planned. We sadly returned after three weeks, than settled into working at the Chuck Wagon Inn Restaurant, where we had been employed for quite some time. I also worked at the Everett Elks Club for a while.
Marv Hansen and I were married in 1969, were divorced in 1971, than remarried in 1973,had three beautiful blonde, blue-eyed girls, than finally divorced in 1979, for good. It just didn't come together for us, no matter how much we tried.
Toward the end of our marriage I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart, and for the first time in my life I felt total peace, love, and acceptance. I knew from that point I would be able to go through whatever was coming. I was able to have hope, direction, and feel loved like I've never known before. I stayed single for eleven years, and raised our girls with the Lord's help. I had a wonderful Church family (Christian Missionary Alliance), who became my brothers, sisters, my children's Grandparents, etc. God has been everything to me. My life has been blessed more than I could ever have hoped for.
Marv continued to pay child support throughout the girls childhood. He also paid for sports, clothes, took them on Summer trips, paid for all College Ed.,housing,(one went to the UW, one to ASU, and our last daughter went to Comm.Coll., then later on to college., and finally, he helped pay for their weddings. He was always a good provider. He couldn't be there with them, but provided for them well. We made sure we would not run each other down to our children, as we wanted the best for them, and wanted them to form their own opinions of us. Turns out, they love us both for doing that, as many of their friends suffered through much different situations.
Marv and I have remained friends. We will always have a bond between us, as we have shared so much together. I'm thankful that we are friends, and our children's welfare has always been our top priority, and always will.
Marv married seven years after we divorced. After being single for eleven years, I would pray to God for a husband. It was of the utmost importance, that this man would love my children, and that they would love him, or it just wouldn't work. I wanted God to bring him into our Church, and that's exactly what happened. I asked God for specific specifications, and I got everything I asked ...Expand for more
for.
John and I met, became the best of friends, did jail and street ministry together for two years, gradually began to fall in love, and got married. On June twenty-third, we will be celebrating our twenty- second Wedding Anniversary. We are best friends, and soul mates. He's a wonderful man. We truly love each other !!!
Love is a commitment, not to be taken taken lightly. I've learned a lot over the years, and have grown so much, and still am. One thing I know for sure is, John and I are in this marriage til death do us part. We both love the Lord Jesus, and both choose to serve Him, rather than ourselves. It works for us. Thank you, God !!!
Our girls are grown, all three are married. My two oldest have a boy and girl each. My youngest daughter just had her first child, which is a sweet little girl. This which means we are blessed Grandparents. I adored being a parent, so being a Gramma is awesome!!! We have two boys and three girls, and can't get enough of them. They are truly such blessings in our lives. Our quiver is full, but has room for more. ;0) I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.
UPDATE:
My youngest daughter just recently had a baby boy, which brings our total to three boys and three girls. We are overwhelmed with how much God has given us. Thank You, Jesus!!!
My health hasn't always been good. They finally discovered I have a rare Liver Disease. There is no cause or cure for this, and Research is being done. This disease is effecting many more people. It's called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, better known as PBC, not related to using drugs or alcohol, which most of the people with these diseases don't, or have never used.
My Immune System believes my Liver is bad, so it attacks the bile ducks, in order to destroy them. I'm in stage 1-2, but on medicine, I should stay there. I've been blessed. My biggest symptoms are fatigue, and occasional itching. I go from day to day, but have been doing great for sometime now, so no complaints.
This can turn at any time for no reason. It also affects other areas of your body, so needless to say I no longer work which has been very hard for me to accept. It's been five years, and I still miss being able to work, but know I can't. I take life one day at a time, and enjoy every minute of it.
My favorite time is with my family, especially those grandchildren. They are the light of our lives.
