Life
After a lack-luster year at UW, I took a job as a nursing assistant at St. Luke's Hospital, doing the lowliest of work (I washed metal bedpans) and taking care of sick children in the Pediatric Unit. My desire to be a nurse was reawakened, and I went back to school to become an RN. I worked at West Allis Memorial Hospital for four years, in the Pediatric/Young Adult Unit. In 1975, I divorced a cheating husband, and moved to the Nashville, TN area, to work as an RN at Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital. In 1978, I remarried and moved to Mount Juliet, Tennessee with my new husband Pete, a retired Viet Nam veteran Marine. Our two children, Josh and Amanda, are now grown and married., and I am a grandmother to three. d I moved to the NICU at the HCA flagship hospital, Centennial Medical Center, where I eventually retired.
My life here has blessed me with many friends. and the Nashville area satisfies my love of Country and Bluegrass music (as a listener). I have seen wonderful performances, and met many talented performers. My sister and brother-in-law (Barb and Len Majewski), 1968 RLHS grads) aren't too far away in SC, so we enjoy visiting with them more often (pre-pandemic). We just bought our second home in 42 years, in nearby Lebanon, TN., where we are happy to have a home that is mostly one-level, and provides plenty of room for the family, especially the grandkids. I attend Our Savior Lutheran Church in Nashville, where a few other Cheeseheads also worship, including one that remembers Coach Schneider and Mr. Hafeman, from their time teaching in Milwaukee!
