Born June 24th, 1985; Torry Brown who is known simply as âDJ T Guttaâ was raised in a single parent home by his mother. A resident of one of the most dangerous north St. Louisâ neighborhoods, Walnut Park. His mother was committed to keeping him off the streets and out of trouble. Not always into music, basketball was his passion growing up beginning at the age of 5 all through high school. During his sophomore year he was introduced to the mixtape industry. Listening to industry leaders such as DJ Clue, Drama and Funk Master Flex, he gained a love for the craft and decided to get his feet wet.
After graduating from Parkway Central High school Torry Brown was no more, he was official T Gutta, a name he was given at the age of sixteen by older boys in the neighborhood, DJ T Gutta was putting his own spin on mixtapes. The year following graduation he met an up and coming St. Louis artist by the name of Young Ghost who wanted to get one of his songs on Guttaâs soon to be released mixtape. Young Ghost was the newest member of Supreme Team Inc, which at the time was the number one underground music labels in the area. Gutta was introduced to the CEO of the label Ruka Puff, who was more than impressed with the work heâd done so far. s, which would soon consist of himself and four other DJs. It was during this time that the name DJ T Gutta was becoming familiar in the underground St. Louis music industry, however it wasnât until the release of â100% Grindâ that St. Louis would really notice him. Three months post â100% Grindâ Gutta released another mixtape helping with the promotion of Ruka Puffâs mixtape, âDa New Lou 2â.
In 2007 Gutta decided to try something new, âLetâs Do It Denâ mixtape series, which is the number one series in St. Louis. Not only were local artists wanting to be featured but national artists as well. Soon after releasing âLetâs Do It Denâ Gutta left Supreme Team/Supreme DJs to start âThe Goon Squad DJs. He started the crew with the goal of promoting underground artists, locally and nationally with little to no radio contribution. By 2008 Gutta was known as one of the premier mixtape DJs in the Midwest.
By 2010 T Gutta was asked to join the International Bum Squad DJz, the largest DJ crew in the world. He was also asked to join the Hitt Breaker DJs as well as the Trakc Banga DJs. He accepted All invites, and is currently working on mixtapes and shows with the crews. Gutta was also nominated for DJ of the year at the 2010 TMAs, and 2010 Idjawards held In Atlanta, Ga. By late summer Gutta was asked to work on a project for NBA super star and Ambassador Of China Tracy McGrady.
Currently the official tour DJ for National Recording Artist Luey V, and Saint Louis artist Saint Orleans. Not only a tour an mixtape DJ, Gutta has been blessed to have his own mix show on New Jerseyâs radio station Mix1620 an also has a show on University of Missouri St. Louis radio. Keeping up with his momentum DJ T Gutta is sure to be one of the noted DJs in the nation.".
