DIANE's Story
35 years later ...here I am!. I never thought that I would be going back to visit my high school class through a computer...wow, this is very cool...
I am DIANE DEGENNARO-HALLORAN, I graduated from SLZ 1976, went to work for my father at his auto parts store we owned and met my husband ' to be' delivering auto parts to Mark Morris Tires in Hayward. I was married for 20 years, I have 2 daughters, Christina, she's 28 and my little pokieto, Catherine, she is 27, my daughters are everything to me, I've always told them 'when I count my blessings, I count them twice', they are two very pretty, very sweet, smart, very caring, and very protective of there mother. I am very proud of who they've become, I dont know how I did it but when my girls came into this world....I lucked out, I am very thankful of my family I feel truly blessed... I also have 2 grandsons..Andrew- Michael, he's 8 and Tyler- James, he will be 6 this September, I love my grandsons, they are very, very dear to me too...like I said ..."I'm blessed'
When my girls were born , I got to be a 'stay at home mother', we were living in Pleasonton form the first 2-1/2 years of being married ,then we moved it up a 'notch' and moved to Blackawk, Danville,Ca, we lived there for 10 years, met my best friend Debbie Muniz-Smith at the opening of the Blackhawk Museum, in 1993, we moved to Keyes Ca, we had a little trouble with one of our banks, we had to pay them back a few dollars (750,000) so we had to liqidate a few things, houses, cars, car lots, you know typical stuff, I was glad to move anyways because I really didnt like all the 'snotty',' hoiedy-. toiedy' people anyways, all they talked about was ' I got this", "and I paid...that', too much bragging, I didnt have much to say with these people, so when we moved to Keyes...Expand for more
...boy what a change! that was harder to deal with than I thought , but we adjusted, and everything went fine
1998 , I got seperated, and in 2000 I met my boyfriend Rodney, we've been together since then 11 years..he's my boyfriend, my boss, my friend ,my soul-man, I love him with all my heart...it's all good, needless to say My girls moved back to the bay area, so did my X, I'm the only one left here in Keyes, and there is no way I would ever go back to a big city, Keyes is small bout 4500 people, everyone knows everyone, it's safe, you could walk around town at 2-am , and not worry, people watch out for each other, course, it's not as pretty as Blackhawk but that's ok for me.
As of today or the last 5 or 6 years I've become a painter, we paint offices and apartments, we do tape and texture custom paint, Rodney also does the cement part, I can do the finishing of the cement process, but I do not do any hard labor when it comes to cement, wheelbarreling, shoveling, etc. the hard stuff, no -no, I'll cut the joints in and finish... I like what we do....I like it a lot..
I guess since graduating from hs, I ve changed a little, I'm not so shy anymore, well just a little bit and I seem to have grown a sense of humor, I'm much more confident, and not so dam gullable, gosh, cause I sure was back in high school. I dont think that anyone in school really got to know me very well, I didnt hang out with too many people so I'm not sure what they thought of me then, at that time it was hard for me because, I was so shy, I didnt know how to relate to people I've grown since then...( took a while) but I know I dont need anyone's approval, to feel good about myself or to fit in. I'm ok, and ...I feel good!...I've got my health, my family, some wisdom, and I am content. I have no regrets .
