Dain's Story
Life
I'm in Iraq again... how many times is this now? I think I'll get a house some where in the middle east because I just can't stay away from this place (not complaining). It's not bad though - well if I make it home alive and well. Unfortunately though I am over here with the regular army for the first time and the last time - I will never again deploy with these fools if I can in anyway help it - it's hazardous for my health, life and career. When you're with people that take pride in what they are doing, that take care of each other, etc it's different. I've actually had probably the best time of my life over here getting shot at with my detachment (last time) - but we all made it home with no extra holes. This has been the worst time period in my life because I'm surrounded by idiots this time - and not Iraqis, but Americans... it's hard to tell this time who the enemy is and if...Expand for more
they are on this side or the other side of the wire! I'm counting the days for once - counting the days until I get home to momma and my baby girl again - then back to the farm at Fort Bragg.
Anyway, I guess I'm a rambler...
I haven't talked to anyone from NHS for a while now - but if anyone cares I'm still alive since there's always rumors that I'm not when I do talk to someone. At least I always have went out in a blaze of glory I guess - which beats cancer. I'm still married - very happily so and I've got a daughter to prove it (about 19 months old now - which is 20FEB06). So I'm pretty much where I thought I'd be at this time in life and wouldn't change a dang thing. Well I got promoted too fast I guess and now all the choice positions are below me supposedly - I'd trade the pay for a trigger pulling job though because being a desk jockey is really hard on my boney ass!
