Dakota's Story

Life My life... Don't think 4000 characters can really cover it. But I'll sum. I was born and raised in Seward. It was there that I graduated highschool in 1998. I then entered 7 months of basic training and AIT for the army national guard. I then attended UNL for a semester in 2000. After that I joined the active army and went to Germany where I have stayed ever since. During that time I have visited many countries and seen many things that you just don't see in Seward... or anywhere else in the U.S. for that matter. In February of 2003 I was deployed to Iraq for one long (expletive)ing year. From the war to the occupation/rebuilding, I've seen most of it over there and forgotten none. I got out of the military in Sept. of 2004. Then in January of 2005 I moved to Doha, Qatar. I got a job as a military contractor. It's nice here. But now I am transfering to Djibouti, in the Horn of Africa. Not very nice living conditions but I make more money. And that is what life is about isn't it? Money.. and the pursuit of it. Word. College Where to start? It was mid September of 1980 and I was pushing through towards the light when this man slapped my ass... FAST FORWARD 19 YEARS> I had just finished my national guard training and was looking to use my military education money. So I decided to attend UNL starting Jan. of 2000. I was studying to be a personal trainer. I got a job as a bouncer at Iguana's(1st mistake) and got set up in Abel dorm. I was expecting parties and women. But it was AFU. The 6th floor of Abel was only guys! It was an engineering floor and my ma...Expand for more
jor was physical science! What the (expletive)! It only took a week before I dropped all classes but one. A week later I kicked that one to the curb also. My day consisted of waking up between 2-4 in the afternoon, working out, shower, go to Iquana's to work, go to after party, get home at 6 in the morning and go to sleep. I got pretty bored not going to class so I started to make dorm life more fun. Most of my floor were in the same class, so I would go with them to take exams and I would pretend to freak out. I was also working on all the get rich quick schemes in the back of the paper. Every Thursday night my floor got together with some girls in there class and went to branched oak to party. The first one I went to was pretty lame, so I decided to add a little excitement. I snuck off and tied newspaper to my feet, rolled up my pants and got on a picnic table behind everybody. I then lit my feet on fire and did riverdance. Only thing was that I didn't realize how flammable leg hair was and I burst into flames. Stop, drop, and scream almost worked too. But it was thanks to the many pairs of shoes stomping my burning body that bruised and saved my life. When the semester was done I got a job at Gas N shop and then realized I was living at home working at a gas station and realized I had better do something quick. So 3 days later I was on a plane to go to Germany. I was in the Army. Military I was stationed in Mannheim Germany. I worked in communications. I was in charge of the 181st Battalion communications shop. I deployed to Iraq from Feb. 2003 to Feb. 2004.
