Dale's Story

Life Hello to all my friends wherever you may be. One might call me an artist in residence. Stained glass artist, ceramicist, painter, photographer and woodworker. Gee it's fun to do all those things, and I really do enjoy it.I am currently teaching art classes at OZARKS TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE, the local Jr college. I graduated from College of Dupage with an AA in Photography and Drury University with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art. Living in Springfield, Mo Married 34 years to Darice Avakian We have 2 daughters, Robin 29 and Beth 27. The empty nest syndrome?? we love it ha ha! We are now grandparents as of January 18th 2007..................... I display my glass work, paintings and mosaics in galleries in MO and IL. Darice is a Harp instructor at Missouri State Univ. and teaches private lessons as well. This and several weddings and various functions per year keep her busy to say the least. MY YEARS AT JOLIET EAST? WELL, I HAD TOO MUCH FUN BUT NOT TOO MANY REGRETS.I GUESS I MISS THOSE DAYS THE MOST, IT WAS SUCH A SPECIAL TIME FOR ALL OF US, LOTS OF GROUND BREAKING AT THE SCHOOL AS WELL AS IN OUR OWN PERSONAL LIVES. BYE FOR NOW, will update as things change............. DALE THIS IS MY BIO AS LISTED ON MY WEBSITE I CAN'T LIST THE WEBSITE HERE BUT JUST GOOGLE ME AND YOU WILL GET THERE. I always wanted to be a artist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were right, lol. To be truly happy, I would be right where I am today doing what I am doing. I might have a...Expand for more
few more Martin guitars lol My dad was my hero. I didn't realize it at the time while growing up but as I grew and got to know him better,I new that he was a very wise man. He taught me about integrity. My brother Lee is my hero also, he's always there for me. Thanks bro..... I would try to be nicer to my parents if I had one to do over. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen (currently under construction) and add on a pool. My dream home would be on a hil overlooking beautiful vistas. I learned as a parent that there is no such thing as conditional love. They are my children and I post no conditions on love. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to church, then spend the rest on retirement and further education and oh yes vacations for all, .. and ;;. My current age is 59. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely wrong, some are still alive lol. Retired and teaching and doing my artwork. My first crush turned out quite well, she has a very successful areer in nursing. My best friend would tell you I'm cool, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as strange. Yes, now that I'm 59 I can where clothes that don't matcha again just like I did in the 60's. I have on trophy that I recieved in 1961 while I was bat boy for Joliets Babe Ruth team we were 1st place champs,my dad was the coach, it was fun. In 10 years, I hope to be 69. I'm going to get there by smoking fewer cigars and eating less.. Paul Sandahl is my dearest and oldest friend and I love him as if he were my brother. Paul and I clicked soph year at JT East. We met at the first sock hop. We started talking and realized that we somrthing very important in common... GIRLS!!!! We have kept in touch ever since and we get together as often as we can. Paul and I have been through many fun and not so fun times over the years, births, deaths and cebrations, too many things to list. I could go on for ever. If people saw me at the reunion, they would be surprised that I have so much hair, it's gray/white, but it's hair ha ha......Oh and I am a bit overweight. My first job was at Fitzer's Frostie, where I got paid 1.00/hr to cook. What I remember most about it is many of my friends from school also worked there and we just always gave the owner a hard time. I would try to do that over if I could. Try to be nicer to him.. Christmas time when I was 5 and living on Wilcox St in Joliet. I Santa brough me a dog which I still have because my mother saved it for me al those years, and i got a fishing pole that was in a metal tube container and it was gray and blue. Thanks for the opportunity to travel down memory lane. All for now.......August 7th 2008
