Dale's Story

School I was a terrorist. I graduated on the bottom of the class. I got into college because my father knew the Director of Admissions. Obviously I graduated from Kennedy Christian because they wanted to get rid of me. It was a reform school. They needed students and I was kicked out of Hickory. Most of our class were refugees from other schools. My parents told me that if I got kicked out of Kennedy I would end up in the Valley Forge Military Academy. College I won the draft lottery. I was number 15. I had the last 2-S and if I lost it I would have been immediately drafted. I had to actually study, however, I had a lot of copies of tests. When I finished college I went to Mortuary School. They liked me there too. I graduated on the bottom of my class because they also wanted to get rid of me. I was a lousy embalmer. After my military experience I went to Law School. We didn't study much there. We went to parties and had a good time. Workplace My first real job was when I was conscripted into the Military. Although I was an officer it was one of the most confusing periods of my life. The only thing that got me through Vietnam was my Jewish Faith. The next job I had was as a Funeral Director at the McManus Funeral Home in Sharon. After Law School I worked at a law firm in Florida and New York. This did ...Expand for more
not work well because I kept ending up in jail for contempt. I was in the Dade County Jail and the Mercer County Jail. I came back to Sharon and started a corporate, tax law and accounting firm that has operated for over twenty five years. During those years I also studied at the Kabbala Center Yeshiva and became a Rabbi. Now I proceed each day to carry on God's work through my business and community relationships. My goal is to retire early and devote the rest of my life to helping those of broken spirit and destitute. This is not a noble act but something I am compelled to do. Military I was conscripted into the Naval Reserve. My commanding officers tried to court marshal me twice. My military career was a dark page in the history of the USN I was the Military Mortuary Commander in Saigon because all of the civilian embalmers quit. It was not fun. The Dinks thought the Military Mortuary was the CIA Headquarters and kept shooting at it. The reserve was stuck with me too. They couldn't find any assignments that fit my job classification. I have to admit if I had to do it again I would do it in the Navy. We had the nicer looking uniforms. I have one suggestion, however, my ribbon bars colors were terrible. They didn't match anything. I refused to wear it. They also got pissed about this too...No sense of humor.
