Dale's Story

Jeez... I just got done with the Q&A part of this thing. I kept noticing how everyone was putting "It depends on the issue" for the voting question. I kept thinking "That's kind of a cop-out". Then I read all the other crazy choices they gave us... I went with "depends" also ;-). Lets see. How to start this... after high school I spent a couple of years in college(UNI). I was a horrible student. Really had no business being there. Priorities were not in the right spot for that kind of education... I did work full time at the local book store(naughty shop). I was there for 15 years. They are right when saying time goes by faster as we get older. Because I've been working for the Postal Service for over 10 years now... and I can tell you. The past 10 years seem to have gone by a lot faster then the previous 15. "I wouldn't say it's because I'm having more fun". Taking a quick look through this "Classmate" site... I wonder how many of my class actually remember me. I was a bit of a loner in high school. Didn't partake in many of the activities. Going to a dance was unheard of. Primarily because I was too shy and self conscious to envision myself on a dance floor... that would change once I started going out to bars. At first it took some doing for my friends to convince me to try it. But once I did... you couldn't get me off the dance floor. So my 20's and early 30's was mostly just living for the weekends when my friends and I would go out partying... well, dancing anyway. I never did drink. Still don't. I'm not a radical about it. It's just not for me. "You can call me the designated driver". More recent years were kept busy by taking care of my mother(she has since passed away). She was always able to live by herself. But there were a lot of health issues along the way(god bless the people who devote thei...Expand for more
r life to the medical profession. I've met a lot of them over the years)... lucky for us. She lived across the street from the Post Office. So there was always easy access when needed. On the relationship end of things. I've had a "significant other" for the past 13 years. His name is Bruce. We don't live together. It's always been a long distance arrangement. But it works for us. We'll always try to meet up on the weekends. Either at his place or mine... when that doesn't work. We just meet in the middle somewhere for a movie and dinner. "Always throw a little shopping into the mix". As mentioned... I love going to the movies. An average of two a week. It's the one thing I am willing to spend my money on. No matter what they want to charge me. Yes, the popcorn is way over priced. So I'm picky about that. Each theatre is different... as for hobbies? I love to walk when the weather is nice. Just being outdoors in general... I completely enjoy NFL football. It's about the only sport I'll watch... I wouldn't mind playing tennis again. But it's been years... since getting a computer, photography(digital) has been something I'm enjoying a lot of... I also have this obsession with "Batman". I collect anything and everything. It actually started the Summer after we graduated. I was visiting the cigar shop in downtown Waterloo when I noticed a Batman comic book. I hadn't read one in years. So I thought "What the hell"... I bought it, read it, and wouldn't ya know. The final page said "To be continued...". I've been hooked ever since. I haven't always kept up on the books themselves. But the novelty items can't be missed... and yes, the last two films have blown me away(the two previously released ones made me ill). That's about it for now. I'll have to come back when I have more time to visit...
