Dale's Story
I'm in my fourth decade as a professional historian--worked for Alaska DNR 1980-1986, moved to Seattle and worked at environmental consulting firms 1987-1996; then worked at a toxicology consulting firm until 2005 at which time I opened my own consulting business working on environmental, natural resource, and public health issues. Have worked for corporations, law firms, and federal, state, and local agencies.
I write technical reference books, journal articles on mostly environmental topics, and had some 30 poems published between 1976 and 1992; now I only write poetry for myself and friends.
I'm a semi-pro musician; managed and played bass in the cover bands Weapons of Mass Destruction and MoJo Filter 2007-2016 here in Coupeville; I played tuba for the Whidbey Com...Expand for more
munity Orchestra 2007-2017; and have been playing bass in Island Jazz Collective since 2011. My EM alter-ego is Oscillon and I compose/record ambient electronic music.
I had a kidney transplant in 2006 and my sister MaryEllen was my donor!.
Best of all, I've been married to my sweetheart Stephanie since January 1981. We both came from huge families and I reunited with my biological sibs in 1992 and my birth family had 10 kids. Steph and I have 43 nieces and nephews. We don't have kids, but enjoy our huge extended family. The Stirling kids live in Alaska, Washington, California, and Georgia. Dad passed away the night of my transplant and after 50 years living off of DeArmoun Road, Mom moved to Santa Rosa in 2017 and now resides near Oakland and my little brother Earl.
