Dan's Story
I can't believe that the years have past so fast. It really does seem like only yesterday that we were walking the halls at good ole whs. It truly was a great time to be young. I live in Fitzgerald, Ga. I have been here since 1972. I married 2yrs. earlier to Freda Brown from McEachern High. We have three children, Josh 26, Brooke 25, and Megan 20. Each have been a blessing. Freda and I are empty nesters, which has been a really neat thing. Both our older children are married. Josh was in the marines after he graduated from college. He was at Officers School when he was injured during training. He lives here now and works for the same company as I do. Brooke lives in Kennesaw and is married to the chef at the Peachtree club in Atlanta. She is working on her masters. Our youngest is at Valdosta State, trying to get into the nursing program. ss for the last 25yrs. Before then I was a Conservation Officer, which is how I got to Fitzgerald. Freda and I live in the country, way back in the woods. I have a big garden, which I really enjoy. I grow enough stuff to feed half of Fitzgerald. I enjoy hunting and have a yearly trip to the Dakotas where I hunt for pheasants. We have a small house in North Dakota, from which we do our hunting. Freda and I hunt for 2wks. each fall. I have three dogs which live a pretty good life until those 2 wks. They really have to earn their keep then. I sometimes think of retirement, but am not sure I could find enough stuff to keep me busy. Freda, and I have a really good church here, and both of us are active members. It really is funny how ones priorities change as the years go by. Well, that 'bout covers things with me. I gotta' go as today is the day I leave for North Dakota.
