Dan's Story

After graduating from Sunset High School in 1971, Dan attended Stanford University, where he graduated with a BA in Journalism in 1975. Since 1976, Dan has freelanced and worked on editorial staffs for numerous music magazines, and is currently Editor-at-Large at Vintage Guitar magazine. He has interviewed Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, George Harrison, Frank Zappa, and Carlos Santana, among others, and is an ASCAP/D...Expand for more
eems Taylor Award winner for excellence in music journalism. He has also released two CDs of instrumental guitar rock under the stage name Teisco Del Rey, and played rhythm guitar on tour with the Ventures and Duane Eddy. In 1987, Dan moved to Austin, TX. He moved to Weatherford, a small town west of Fort Worth, after getting married in 2009. He'd been friends with his wife for 20 years before they had their first date.
