Dan's Story
after dropping out of school in the spring of 1969 i immediately went to work at buick. i worked there until the spring of 1970 when i was DRAFTED into the army and was shipped to vietnam. i was lucky and made it home in one piece and went back to work for GM. i didnt like assembly line work so i quit and went to work in sales. i grew tired of michigan and in 1980 i moved to augusta georgia. i went back to school and got my degree in electronic engineering at augusta technical college. i then went to work for the avondale corporation. i wo...Expand for more
rked for them until 2006 when there was a horrible accident. 2 trains collided outside of the plant. 2 tanker cars carrying chorine gas erupted filling the entire area with deadly chlorine gas. 5000 people were evacuated from the surrounding area. 13 died. 500 were sent to the hospital but most were released the same day. my, and a few others, lungs were more seriously burned and we spent much more time in the hospital. the company went out of business so i recently moved back to the flint area. it was just way too hot down there anyways.
