Dan's Story
Life
It's hard to believe that it's time for our 30th...
I got married in 1983, had a son in 1990, and got divorced in 2001. I'm still riding dirtbikes, although not racing anymore.
I bought the vacant lot next to the Griffith's in the mid 80's and built a house there in '88, where I still live.
Life been berry-berry good to me!!!
Didja ever wonder who that goof was that rode a dirtbike into the gym foyer, down the steps, up the other side, then back out through the double doors??? Yea...me too...(hehehe)
And who kidnapped a goose from Dew's farm on Renwick Rd and turned it loose upstairs??? If you dont have pic's of it, I aint 'fessin up...
I always came close...but never got caught...
I learned to sign DE Brumlevy's name as well as he could...I fooled a lot of hall moniters, and even teachers. I even sprung Steve Lambert from a class 'cause I needed help with something...
I graduated a sesmester early so I could get a jump on all you job-seekers out there...but...the drop-outs already had the jobs...
Mr Lang caught me with a pack of cigarettes...Snached 'em right out of my pocket...I told him to buy his own...(gee...i thought it was funny) Sooo....back to the office to visit Mr Montgomery...again...
I ran into Paul about 10 years after we graduated...he still remembered my name...I guess I spent too much time in his office...teehee
Then there was one time when me and Gene St Germain kinda "stole" a car...we didnt steal it...we just moved it to the other end of the parking lot...Oddly enough, our motorcycles got "relocated" shortly after that...summer school ~~72...what a blast...
College
In high school, I was a bit of a slacker...I did what I had to do, but not much more...I was bored by most of the stuff...Do I really give a rat's ass who was the king of Babylon in 2433 B.C.? And all I know about Siam...it's where Siamese cats came from...(I have had some of them...c...Expand for more
ool critters)...Anyhoo...Siam is gone...Its now Thailand...didnt learn that in school...it hadnt happened yet...
So, on to college...
I went to JJC, because I wanted to learn...I wanted to learn stuff that interested me. I earn my living based on what I learned there, among other places. I had a 3.8/4.0 at JJC...but yet barely passed HS...
Workplace
I have a great job. I'm the lead man in the Computer Numerical Control dept. These are machines that do things automatically. My job is to tell these machines what to do, and how to do it...step by step. The good thing about computers is that they do exactly what you tell them to do...The bad thing about computers is that they do exactly what you tell them to do...I've been doing this type of work since 1980, so for me it's easy...One guy in my dept says that I have balls the size of church bells because I'll just program the machine, and hit the Start button, and go have a cig...never knowing for sure if I made a boo-boo...99.82% of the time, I was right...(sorry boss)...
I also do 4 axis programming...(that's up, down, left, right, in, out, cw, and ccw) For that, I have to use a spreadsheet, and do a whole bunch of 'cyferin...the math becomes pretty intense...And, I love it!!!
Sadly, Polio came back and messed me up. I haven't worked since early 2012, now on SSDI. I'm doing OK, have no complaints.
My son graduated from Lewis and is now a Certified Flight Instructor. He'll be flying jets soon.
I had a few girlfriends in HS, but the gal I wanted most didn't know I existed. I ran into her about 22 years ago at school and I didn't tell her anything. Gee, I just wonder...
My son is off to jet training school...He's already been offered a job as co-pilot for a regional carrier, smaller jets that carry 50 peeps...Sad thing is he has to move away for about a year...We'll sure miss him till he can move back here...
That's all for now
