Dana's Story
Life
Hi, all!
After graduating from LCHS, I attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. I majored in Music Education (trumpet was my major instrument).
After graduating from ECU, I started my career as a teacher in the hills of New York State---I WAS the music man at Wells Central School, a K-12 school with a TOTAL population of 250! Talk about culture shock! I learned a lot in those four years. . . first and foremost, that I didn't want to stay in the "boonies"! While at Wells, I became fast friends with one of the guidance counselors. She "invited" me to audition for a community show (GODSPELL). I got a role, I got hooked on theatre and haven't stopped since! And...Expand for more
. .(as they say) the rest is history. . .
I now have a Master's Degree in Theatre. I am teaching Theatre Arts (haven't played trumpet in years!) at David W. Butler High School in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. I recently retired from my additional part-time job teaching theatre at Central Piedmont Community College here in Charlotte.
During the summers, when I'm not traveling with my partner, who is the Associate Music Director for the Broadway tour of MAMMA MIA!, I generally work as a professional actor.
I love living in Charlotte, but I think about Leesburg and my friends from LCHS often.
That's about all for now!
Thanks for "listening".
