Daniel's Story
Joined the Navy upon completion of High School in '71. Did a six-year stint, mostly in the European area. I worked as a Fire Control technician and served most of my career on cruisers.
In 1977, I began working for San Diego Gas & Electric. I was a union electrician for over 20 years. After some injuries, I looked for other opportunities in the management ranks - relief supervisor, apprentice instructor, and designer. For the last 11 years I have been in charge of all training for the group the substation electrician group. It has been a lot of fun but very challenging - there are 200+ people, it's like herding cats.
I married a great woman who is my best friend. We have 2 teenage daughters, both in their final years of high school. Having no sisters, this has been the hardest thing for me to learn how to be - learning to live with so many women ...Expand for more

We are foster parents for babies, current total we have done so far is 14. We only count the ones who stay longer than a month, so we drop the nubmer to 11. When we reach #12, we will stop. Our daughters will have moved on to college, jobs, and dare I say married, and I will be retired. On average we keep each child for a year as they work through the system for new parents. It is sad that only one biological parent has ever gotten the baby back, but most of them the parents are more concerned about their drugs than their kids. It is hard at the end when we say goodbye, but it is a joy ride and a half when we have them!
Golf is great - I play when I can. The breaks help me to enjoy the game even more. I don't worry so much about my score, but I have been consistantly shooting below 100, and shot a 89 at the last reunion I went to.
