Daniel's Story
Life
Hi. I've been married to Sue (Rogers) Mills (also class of '64) for 36 years (in September). We have 3 married daughters and 9 grandchildren, the latest born on November 24, 2004. Sue and I were "introduced" in choir in 1962, when Jerry Einarsson sat us together. We both still love to sing and do other musical things. Our daughters all sing, too. Our eldest is a Music Minister, our mid-kid sings and plays piano, and our youngest sings and writes songs. I've had lots of different jobs over the last 40 years. Since leaving the Army in 1972, we lived in San Diego, but moved to the Central Valley, CA (near Fresno) at the end of April, 2003. I hope to soon start a music publishing/arranging business online.
School
My biggest crush, if I had one, was and is the girl I married, Sue Rogers, also the class of 1964. We were introduced by Jerry Einarsson, having been seated next to each other in choir in September, 1962....Expand for more
Our first date was November 9 of the same year. I can remember that because it was my parents' wedding anniversary, and we got married twice on our first date -- Sadie Hawkins Day.
The teacher who inspired me most was Jerry Einarsson, with a close second awarded to Dan Border. They and I had music in common, and I spent ALL of my free time in the music department. Dan Border was also my teacher for junior and senior history. I felt fortunate to have him for both years.
If I could do it all over again it would have to be with all the same people -- friends, teachers, etc. I was lucky enough to be in choir for 4 years, and in mens' glee club and concert and marching band as well. I participated in an Aquaganza as singer and dancer, and in several choral festivals and solo/ensemble festivals as both singer and piano accompanist. Carlmont was the best experience I've ever had, not counting having children and grandchildren.
