Daniel's Story
Life
Well after I graduated from John Jay, I moved to Puerto Rico in 1980. While there I had various jobs and went back to NYC on several ocassions then in 1987, I moved back to Puerto Rico and decided on joining the US Navy.
While in the Navy I had a great time. Went to places that I never would have gone to. I was part of the group aboard the USS Saratoga that help liberate Kuwaitt in 1991. I served in the Navy five and a half years.
Upon my return back to the US from deployment, I married my current wife of 16yrs. She has three kids of her own which, I help raise to grown adults and we have a child of our own that is 13yrs old. I have three grandkids that follow behind my daughter in age (12, 11 and 7) two girls and a boy (the middle one). And it has been great. I can't complain, all has been well.
I currently live in Virginia with my wife and kids. Although it is not Brooklyn, it is nice. I like that I don't have to worry about the bad winters and the summers here are not as humid as...Expand for more
they are back in Brooklyn. We at times go and visit NYC to either visit family that I still have there or just go for the shopping. There is nothing like the shopping out there.
I would like to run into some old friend from school and the old neighborhood. Just coming on here now reminds me of the walk-out we had in the summer. Even with all the threats that we would get letters sent home from school if we did walk-out, which to this day (ha! ha!) we have never received. We went on that walk-out and headed to Prospect Park Band Shell. My bestfriend (Louie Santiago) was the one that bought the music and DJ'd along with several other friends. I would like to run into him one day.
I always wanted to be a cinematographer when I grew up. My parents thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were may have been wrong. My parents thought that was a career that would have led towards nothing. They wanted me to get into computers, which years later I went on to study and gain some employment.
