Daniel's Story
Life
well I fufilled my childhood dream in the fall of 1987 I became a profesional Tractor Trailer driver.I married in 1995 to a nice woman and we have a 2 1/2 yr old dog no childeren still thinking of adopting though.
And for all the motor heads out there yes I still love my Mopars right now I have a 97 Ram 1500 Club Cab Sport in Black monochrome "grill bumpers are black too"(1st and last black vehical I'll ever own)with 318(5.2 litter)V8 dual catback exhaust and chrome bed railing and side steps.
I still deal with the building and selling of model railway equipment "some boys never grow up just the price of our toys do" I have a small mail order hobby business going that I take care of when I'm home and not puttering around the garden or doing the honeydo list.
I lost contact with almost everyone I know except Gina Esposito and Jimmy Wett.
I've was working for J.B.Hunt Transport from 5/1997 till 8/2004 when I got hurt on the job and when I came back I failed my DOT/Company physicalbut that's given me time to start up my business on Ebay and get stuff done around the house and property.
Well it's 2006 I'm back working for JB Hunt I'm getting divorced after 11 years of marrage and meet a wonderful lady at JB Hunts Chicago Yard in August. From the min. we meet everything clicked spiritly and other things to boot .
It's almost Christmas I finaly heard from My cousin Margret who is over in Germany with her husband Mike. Her sister Terry is doing fine ,so is the rest of their large family.
I'm still in Scottsboro but I don't know for how much longer . We will see!
School
The person I had the biggest crush on from Kindigarden through all of high school was Virginia Melleby.
The funniest thing that happened to me in school was the day after a snow storm in either Jan. or Feb. of 85 Carl Formes and I went out during lunch (we had off 3-5th perriods that day)and went to Jones beach and opened my 75 Cordoba up on Ocean Parkway heading twards Tobay beach.Any way Ocean Parkway was nice and clean compared to the other roads in the area so we oppened the car up to see what she would do.We had her the speedometer burried at 100 mph then we slowed down to make a u turn at tobay and head back to Berner. as we made the u turn at 6 mph and started to accelarate I noticed a thumping soun out of the rear we pulled into tobay and sure enough the left rear went flat.
So we pop open the trunk and the spare which was holding 28 psi 2 days before was also flat. We called a couple of places that towed cars nobody could come out and pick us up so we had to limp back to Massapequa on a flat when one rim got too hot we change to the other.well needless to say by the time we walked from the Getty station on West Shores Ave and Merrick, where I was working at the time back to Berner it was time to go home .Carl the lucky so and so his homeroom substitue teacher didn't mark him in when he c...Expand for more
hecked in before going to AV Squad that morning, I on the otherhand got 2 days detention because I missed Science class at 6th period. Isin't it funny how things worked out but I didn't mind it was my own fault and I took the conciquences.
The Teacher that inspired me the most I believe was Mr. Joe Scott. He was a man who had over come addiction to booze and was straight up with his students. He'd work with you and try to help you and if he seen you were trying he'd grade you that way,as long as you made an effort. His extra help classes were in the morning from 6:15 am till 7 am he figured if he could ride his bike from Islip to Berner then you should beable to ride or walk from your house in Massapequa/ massapequa park to Berner. The other thing I liked about him was he always gave his student s a fair chance and he tried to teach me algabra using ohms law, something my own math teacher had no intrest in (Mr. Heck)
Workplace
I worked for a division of Raytheon after High School in Melville from 85- halloween of 86 when I was laid off
Then I did odd jobs in retail till the fall of 1987 when I graduated from Commercial Drivers Training in West Babylon,NY
I worked as a warehouse driver for US Auto Parts in 87 and 88 and Rockbottom Stores in88-89.
in Febuary of 89 I wentr over the road with a company out of Secaucus NJ called Craig Stransky Trucking we hauled mostly high end clothing for Perisians ,Mervins,May Co. Casual Corner,Macys,Atlanta Womens Speacialty, and some other companys. Plus we had a contract with Halmark Card of Enfield,CT.I worked there till Oct.6, 89 when I took off a few extra days because something didn't feel right .And it was a good thing because I would have been on the lower level of the Nimitz Freeway when it colapsed during the 89 San Francisco earth quake.
Right after that anotherperson and myself bought out one of the partners Of K&P Hobbys in Amityville,NY. in my tenyear there I learnt alot of what not to do if I ever owned my own shop we managed to stay open till 1991,even though Long Island was in the middle of a recesion.
after that I went back to work for Craig Stransky from June of 1991 till Dec.1992 where this time I was just plain burnt out from spending not weeks but 1-3 months at a time on the road running team
in 1993 I work for a few months for Celadon Trucking hauling Auto part for Chrysler but as soon as I went solo there seamed to be one dispatcher who all she wanted me todo was run and run illeagle at that so I left and worked for US Xpress Enterprises out of Chattanooga,TN.form 10-93-5/1997 when I left because I was getting ahard time getting any kind of miles and a living paycheck.
thats when I came to work for JB Hunt which is a great company to work for but after 7 years there I failed my DOT recertification physical so I started my own business onEbay it's slowly growing but it keeps me busy while I'm looking for a job
