Brief Overview of: Daniel K. Dixon Jr. Master of Criminal Justice
My primary employment since 1996 has been with Western Piedmont Community College where I served as the Coordinator/Chair for the Department of Criminal Justice and as of January 2, 2020 I am retired!!!!I have also been employed as a facilitator since 2004 with Boston University’s Metropolitan College of Graduate studies in Criminal Justice. My formal education includes receiving a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University, I have a Graduate Certification in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Fayetteville State University, and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Fayetteville Technical Community College and I also have a North Carolina General Police Certification and was the honor graduate from the Fayetteville Police Academy.
Before coming to work at Western Piedmont, I was employed as a Regional Loss Prevention Investigator at Food Lion Inc. and was responsible for hiring and training and supervising over 80 Loss Prevention detectives in 14 Eastern States. I se...Expand for more
rved as a Police Officer in Fayetteville, North Carolina and worked as an undercover officer in narcotics and prostitution, motorcycle officer, and a Police Academy Instructor. As a Police instructor, I taught firearms, self-defense, traffic control, and investigations. I served with the United States Army and was assigned to the 1st 75th Ranger Battalion and with the 82nd Airborne Division supporting Jungle Warfare operations in South America and was recognized out of over 15,000 soldiers as a Distinguished Airborne Trooper.
To name just a few professional achievements, I was photographed for Law and Order Magazine in September 2005 as a Graduate in the Masters of Criminal Justice Program at Boston University, was named Teacher of Excellence at Western Piedmont Community College in 2003, a multiple winner of Who’s Who among National Educators, named as one of the Outstanding Men of America and I’m a Distinguished Expert Shooter and Master Parachutist and hold a Senior Black Belt certification (Sankyu) in Judo. I have also served as the former Senior Advisor of our Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society here at Western Piedmont Community College.
