Danny's Story
Dan Plunkett lived his formative years in Terrebonne and Iberia parishes in Louisiana. Growing up, he had a strong interest in herpetology and spent a lot of his time in the swamps, marshes and bayous.
For much of his early adulthood, he traveled the southern US working construction and laboring on oil rigs offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. After completing his formal education, he was based in New York City and made his living as the trusted advisor to the Chairmen and CEOs of some of the world’s largest corporations. rthern New Mexico, and the jungles of Belize. In 2007, they founded The Doris Wilderness Foundation, Inc. (doriswilderness.org) to help preserve old-growth tropical rainforest and the biodiversity within. They have three grown children. Plunkett holds a BFA from East Tennessee State University, an MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He has published two acclaimed books: Southerly (southerlybook.com) and Inanimate (inanimateguide.com), which are included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City (MoMA), The Smithsonian Institution and many other fine collections.
