Daphne's Story
My Life as of December 2008
After graduation, I made an attempt to attend college, but the feeling of freedom overwelmed me and I was unsuccessful in my plan. I sat out for several years while raising two sons and drilling with the US Air Force Reserves for 6 years. I also served 2 years with the La Army National Guard. I am married to my second husband of almost 8 years. I have a Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from Southern University in Shreveport and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology at LSU Health Sciences Center also in Shreveport. I am still a resident of Shreveport and plan to move to cooler climates after I've completed my Masters degree.
School
I attended Northwood High until my senior year. When I enrolled at Green Oaks, I was a Senior and also a soon-to-be mother. I was 16 years old and 6 months pregnant with my first child, Antravian. I rekindled many relationships that had formed at Newton Smith, Cherokee Park and Linear Middle School. One of the first to make me welcome was Regina Savannah, who during Mrs Tinsley's typing class named my stomach and it's contents, "Butterball". k with him over these years but her kindness to me has. Rest in Peace Gina. Returning to school after Christmas break, brought new experiences. Because I had given birth and was much smaller than when I left, many of my classmates didn't recognized me. But quite a few did. One in particular was Anthony Wilson, who had a smile that could out shine the sun and eyes that made me want to swim in them. We dated off and on for at least a decade after graduation. During one of our "on periods " we had a son "Lil Tony" and even planned our private matrimony in Tacoma, Washington where he was station in the Army. I attended the Military Ball with Anthony Wilson, Prom with Baltimore Wesley, and Senior Party with Vincent Jackson. I remember Robert Myers (Roberto), Anthony(Antonio) and I (Dorethea) did a skit in Mrs Mays Spanish class about a woman torn between two lovers. Life imitated Art. Anthony and I have remained friends and partners in raising our son. Mostly everyone I was close to back then I have lost contact with. I hope this effort to locate is successful. It will feel really good to hang out or just talk to an old friend and one of us says, "Hey, do you remember that time"?
