Daphne's Story

Life My Spouse I was a bartender at the Pickwick Tavern. He came in with his Uncle one day. We became friends. That was twenty seven years ago. ( sometime in march of '78'. We have been a team ever since. in Jan. of '06', we will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. My advice to anyone asking.... marry your best friend. because sometimes, you just want to cuddle and your best friend already knows that about you. My Pets Napoleon is Half toy poodle and half Scottish Terrier. He is very cute but has that "Small Dog Complex" He is about six years old. My Daughter A beautiful 23 year old daughter. Working hard, learning the ropes of being an adult. Sometimes though, our kids still just want to sit with their Mothers with a great big blanket wrapped around both and then to just sit and talk about all sorts of things that to another person might seem ike unimportant stuff....but to a Mother and child, it is their whole world at that moment. My Job Well it has changed a bit over the years. First, I began here at Fred Hutch. Cancer Research Center as a data collection specialist. I collected basic health related information on all our patients, I worked with a group of about ten individuals who all basically did the same job. In 2001, I was injured and developed a chronic pain disability..I have to take all kinds of medications and treatments that would cause anyone to change drastically. I still work in that dept. My job has changed though because my illness that prevents me from doing...Expand for more
very detailed work. So now, my main area of scientific speciality is ..... medical consent forms, making sure they are completed by the patient and the health care worker. Now this work is a great deal less satisfactory than my previous assignment but there are some good things about it. I hope to retire soon since I have a disability that some days makes it difficult for me to even do this work. Military I joined the Army in 1974. Right out of high school. I went to basic training at Fort Jackson. Echo-17-5 was our company. We were a provisional company because of all the Women who had joined there were too many people for one company. Two units graduated together Alpha company and Echo Company. Echo company took all the awards.... I recall that a gal by the name of Camacho received Distinguished Graduate. for both companies...She was my team leader for a time. After Boot camp I went to Fort Gordon for AIT. Military Police. 15th MP Batallian I believe. I bolo-ed on the pistol range and was sent up to Fort Lee Virginia for a second AIT training in Unit Armorer. Then after Ft. Lee, I was sent to Fort Lewis where I spent the remainder of my Military carreer. Co. B 9th S & T Batallian 9th Inf. Division Ft. Lewis Wa. I was the unit Armorer. I was pretty good at my Job and received the AR-Com when I got out. Since then I have gotten Married and we have one child who is now 24 and a wonderful person. My Hubby and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary and are going for many, many more.
