Darcy's Story
May 2009 - Well, Mark made it back from Taiwan so now we can settle in to living together again. I did make it to Shanghai last September for a visit. My friend and I flew back to the states as Hurricane Ike was hitting Houston. It took us 3 days to get home due to airport closures and flight cancellations. Luckily, she did not sustain any damage at her house and ours was contained to our barn and a couple of 75 year old Oak trees. Our big project now that Mark is home is repairing the damage to the barn. Mark will still travel a lot and I am hoping to go back to Shanghai for another visit in September.

Wow, I guess I should update this occasionally! We returned from Shanghai in early 2006. We did manage to get settled in to life in the US again, just in time for Mark to move back to Asia. Since I no longer work for HP, we decided that Mark would go and I would stay in Houston. Thank goodness we made that decision. Mark has been traveling 80%+ of the...Expand for more
time, so I would have been in Taiwan alone most of the time. I would much rather be at home alone in Houston! He makes it home to visit at least once a quarter and the plan is for me to make it over there twice a quarter, so far life has had other plans and i haven't made it over there yet. I am bound and determined to meet him in Shanghai in September along with some friends. The guys can work and the wives will play and shop! That about sums up my life at the moment.

My husband Mark and I recently returned from a one year stay in Shanghai, China. We are working at getting settled back in to life in Houston. I recently left HP and now work for a small chain of bedding stores. The pace is much slower and there is no stress, quite a change! We are experiencing reverse culture shock as we get settled back in to life here.....and to the lack of travel. We took advantage of being in China and traveled throughout the Asia Pacific region as much as we could.
