Darlene's Story

Life I've lived in Yucaipa,Ca over 30 years. I've been married to a wonderful guy, who grew up in Yucaipa, We have one son, he graduated fromCalifornia Baptist University in Riverside,CA and is now a Captain in the army. I've been a Registered Nurse for 39 years and worked in San Bernardino,Ca. as a manager. I am now retired. My family is involved in our church, Grace Point Fellowship, formerly First Baptist of Yucaipa. I'm an avid reader,I walk in our local community. My sister and I have stayed close since the death of our mother and try to help others who deal with senile dementia. I am currently recovering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome. School I had a big crush on Tom Letchworth in high school and we went out off and on after high school, until I met my future husband. I had alot of good memories of high school and have tried to make sure my son had good times as well. College I went to San Bernardino Valley College, than I graduated from Loma Linda University in 1980. I'm not Seventh Day Adventi...Expand for more
st, so I found it very interesting conforming to not wearing jewelery or make up at school. I actually got used to eating vegetarian food while on campus, but I haven't become vegetarian. Workplace I worked at Jack in the Box out of high school, which was my first taste of rotating shifts. Which I have dealt with most of my work career. Except when I worked as a secretary for the County of San Bernardino. I quit as a secretary, when I started nursing school. I worked as a nursing assistant on a Medical Surgical floor, than in the Newborn Nursery. When I became a Registered Nurse, I worked as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. I found night shifts were not for me. I have never been able to sleep in the daytime. I worked at Community Hospital of San Bernardino for 37 years. First in the Newborn Nursery, than I helped set up the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I went into management and found that I would rather do patient care. But I have ended up back in management to help pay for my son's college tuition.
