Darlene's Story
Life
My Spouse
He knew the girl I was walking home with and he offered us a ride home. Then each day after that, he asked me if I wanted a ride home. It was his last year of high school, so when I signed his yearbook I included my phone number. Then I left it up to him on whether or not he wanted to get together during the summer. He called me and after dating for four years, we married.
My Pets
I have two Golden Retrievers named Jessie and Dylan and four cats, a Maine Coon named Oreo, a Domestic Short Haired cat with nuerological problems named Tumbleweed. I named him Tumbleweed because he shakes his head and has trouble standing up for too long a time. A DSH cat with one eye named Momma (she had a litter of 4 kittens) and another one eyed cat named Purrfection. My Golden Retriever, Jessie passed away on April 30, 2006. She was ten and a half years old. She had two tumors on her spine and they gave her 2 months maximum. We did everything we could to keep Jessie comfortable. or her to help her for those 2 months, I would do over in a heartbeat. I loved her so much and I really miss her very much. She was my best friend. Dylan is three and a half years old. Jessie won many awards and Titles from the American Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club. I also entered her in Agility Trials too which she loved. Dylan is doing really well in competition and if all goes as planned I hope to enter him in trials this Fall.
My Job
I am a Veterinary Technician. I love my job.
Workplace
For about 10 years after high school i worked in dead end office jobs. Then i began working at a veterinarians office and I love it. I love animals. I am training to be a Veterinary Technician. I get to experience being around all kinds of animals (dogs, cats, praire dogs, ferrets, a monkey once in a while, rabbits). I know how to do dentistries, monitor the patients during surgery, take blood and now I am learning how to draw urine from a patients bladder. It is amazing and I wouldn't change jobs for nothing.
