Darlene was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, and never lived anywhere else. Have no plans to move, either! My schools include Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School, O.L. Smith Jr. High, and Edsel Ford High School I got my first job at the City of Dearborn, starting in September 1963, until June 1967. Married Harold Helisek (EF 1962) on May 8, 1965, We had our first child, David, on July 26, 1967. and soon after, Michael arrived on July 20, 1968 (Irish twins, if you know what I mean). Julie was born on December 23, 1970. All three played in three sports, including summers, so I was very busy, and loving every minute, since I'm a sports fanatic. They all graduated from Edsel Ford. I returned to work in October 1981, this time at Oakwood Hospital. Began in admitting, transferring to a ward secretary, and ended up working in the Emergency Room for over 30 years as a ward secretary. (Total 35 years at Oakwood). Found my calling in the E.R. Loved it there, Met all kinds of new friends and we were like a big family. Miss the people, but not the work! Made some very good friends, some of who I still see, and some I still correspond with, including Facebook.. David (Lori) have two children, Matthew, 26, and Megan, 24.
