Darlene's Story
I moved to Connecticut last September after retiring in June. I previously lived here for six years then moved back to CA. My property has a brook running the length of it with a little house that is over 100 years old. I have almost 3 acres of land that is lush and absolutely beautiful. I raised two step children and have kept in close contact with them over the years. I moved here because I love the beauty of CT and my stepson and his family live 12 minutes a way. I have two granddaughters here and two in Florida.
I worked in advertising for 29 years in CT, Philadelphia and Los Angeles and Orange county. I had a great time working in this field in media planning eventually working on automotive accounts at a couple of major ad agencies...Expand for more
. The average age in advertising is 34 years old, when I was 56 years old I put Plan B into effect and went to night school for a year to receive a teaching credential while also working at an ad agency. The agency was very supportive of my plans.
I ended my working career by teaching high school science (Earth Science and Physics) the last eight years. Mike Simpson has been a great friend throughout the years particularly helping me while I became a teacher. He was there, via email and phone, when I crashed and burned and celebrated with me when I succeeded. Eventually I thoroughly enjoyed teaching. I miss teaching physics but I enjoy being retired even more.
I will not be attending the reunion but would love to hear from all of you.
