Darrell's Story

Life Funny, no matter how many roads I've traveled, I always seem to end up back at the beginning. The adventures and the hardships are too numerous to mention, but life continues to throw me curves in more ways than one. The best news of all is that as of November 2002 my cancer is in remission. I'll gladly talk with anyone who needs support. I completed my Master of Arts in Drama in August 2003, and taught as an adjutant professor for a year and a half. I had to postpone my Ph.D. because I obtained custody of my two oldest sons. My first son made his way out to California before going back to Tennessee. He now resides in Kentucky. My second and third sons reside in Tennessee. Before all of this, I went tandem skydiving in July 1998 and it was great. I've written plays, short stories, and I took a trip to Valdez, Alaska in June 2000 where I met Pulitzer Prize winning playwrights Horton Foote, (who passed away in March 2009) and Edward Albee at the theatre conference. In 2012, I have six short stories to include "AN ACE OF MERCY" and "THE EXCAVATION" in the anthollogy, "OUT OF OUR MINDS" editted by Janet Jacobs. Its available at BARNES nd NOBLE, NOOK, AMAZON.COM etc. My short story, "NON-NEGOTIABLE" is in the anthology "121 NORTH." I was a featured extra in Dennis Quaid's movie THE ROOKIE, which was filmed at the (then) Arlington Ball Park. Man, that was a long time ago. Recently, I've gotten pretty good at Texas Hold Em. I'm was ranked 5th with the Amateur Poker Players of America (APPA) and on June 9, 2007, I competed against over 90 players to win the state championship that was held in Austin, Texas. I left the league in August of 2007 when they didn't pay me my prize money, and six weeks later APPA folded. Serves them right! However, I did place second in a major WPTAPL tournament at Lone Star Park in Grand Prarie, (12/09/2012) and won $125 dollars. Not too shabby. I went back to school to study radio broadcasting to make myself more marketable. I finished and I'm looking for all kinds of work. The format for my radio show was along the lines of "America's Most Wanted" and I joined a new missing persons organization called, "Por...Expand for more
chlight for the Missing and Unidentified." Check out my web page by Googling "The Bossman in The Bighouse" or "thebossman06" into the search engine. I've taken some time off to personally pursue some leads and I've made several matches between unidentified victims and missing persons which have been submitted to Law Enforcement Agencies and Medical Examiners nation wide. DNA is currently pending on these cases. This includes the cases that are featured on my photo album. Click on the pictures to learn more and/or email me if you think you know who they are. I've finished writing a new play called, "When the Echoes Whisper My Name," which received an honorable mention at Stage West here in Worth Worth and received seocnd place at the Oklahoma Writer's Federation, Inc. conferece. I'm hoping to have my next play, "Sparkles and The Tigger," finished before the end of the year. Along with that, I'm currently working on three or four books. I look forward to hearing from EVERYONE whose friendship has meant so much to me over the years. And to those whose friendship I have lost, I have nobody but myself to blame. If you can ever find it within yourself to forgive me, I look forward to hearing from you again. School To my Dear Friends, I look forward to hearing from all of you from my school days. We have so much to catch up on! Does anyone know if there will be a 30th reunion? Military After leaving the military, opportunities opened up for me that weren't available in the Army. Proof that when God closes one door he opens another one. In my case, several doors opened at once. Makes me wonder why I stayed in for so long. If you're interested in knowing more, look up my LIFE BIO on this web page and search for my name on the newspaper web sites of the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Waxahachie Daily Light. You'll find some interesting stories about me. For Capt. Degenaro, Capt. Dunn, SGM Lanham, 1SG Helton, 1SG Travis, MSG Carr, SFC Gresham and Capt. Sparkles: I hope I've made you proud. To our men and women who have been serving in the armed forces since 9/11 and to those I served with at Carlisle Barracks who are in Iraq, you're in my prayers.
