Darrin's Story
Life
I was born in High Point, North Carolina. My parents moved to the Los Angeles area when I was 3 months. My parents were divorced when I was 9 and at 13 I became interested in music and began playing drums. I also began audio recording soon after that. My father died when I was 16. While at Sierra Vista, I became involved in track, cross country, and acapella choir. I also played drums for chamber singers. I would have liked to have worked in the movie or music business because I enjoyed watching movies and working with audio and music so much. In my early 20s I met a young lady who had been disabled by polio when she was 5 years old. Susan and I were together for 5 years and were good friends even after we broke up. I started working with video during that time. In January 1992 my brother, Bradley, died from AIDS. Through circumstances directly related to his death, I met and married Lola Farris on April 26, 1994. We do not have any children. In 1996 I heard that my friend Susan passed away at the hands of one of her caregivers. Later I worked for a recording studio, a video duplication house, owned a video production business and produced a Christian radio show which increased my technical skills. I have asked myself many times: what is it all for? I soon began volunteering my production abilities to churches and went to Zambia, Africa, with Capital Christian Ministries Int'l. twice in the year 2000. In February 2002 I began serving at In His Presence Church and, in Feb. 2005, became their Production Director until Feb. 2008. At that time I finished building my Darth Vader costume and became a member of the 501st Legion. They are the world's premier Star Wars costume group and wear Star Wars costumes for charity and children's events. See 501st.com.
In Sept. '08 I was asked to ...Expand for more
join the Saber Guild. They do Light Saber Choreography shows for charity.

In 2011 I was asked to be a video editor for 2 production teams. For a sample of my editing work just search; "Darrin Forsythe.Editing Reel 2011".
Even though I have had, and still have, many rough times I know that the Lord is directing my life.
Between 2008 and 2018 I participated in over 200 events as Darth Vader which included charity events, radio & television, The Tonight Show, conducting an orchestra, performing with 'Weird" Al Yankovic four times, fan films and a feature film, the Comic Con Documentary by Morgan Spurlock!
I decided to start my own Beatles Tribute band & left the Saber Guild in June 0f 2012. We were called Ye Olde Beetles!
In Feb 2013 I sold my beloved Vader costume to re-wrap my drums to appear as Ringo's drums while in the Beatles.
In mid 2014, Ye Olde Beetles disbanded & I began to work hard at learning as many Beatle songs as possible. Was called by "Number Nine' in Santa Monica to play 3 gigs in the fall of 2014 and a New Years Eve gig with HELP! I am on my way!
Ye Olde Beetles were together for 1.5 years. Didn't't do much but then I decided to rehearse 160 Beatles songs week for 2 years! Yes you read that right. Then in 2016 I started Vintage Fab. We have played some gigs and are moving forward. We now have over 50 live music videos! Vintage Fab does not play a lot but we play for those to whom it will have more meaning. See Vintage Fab on Facebook! I am NOT in it for the money. Lola & I are still married after more than 25 years! Along the way I learned how to edit videos on a professional computer editing system and as of 2020/21, I am the main editor for an online self help video series to be released sometime in 2021. The biggest video project of my life!
