Darryl's Story
Life
Married in 1986 and have 3 boys, 19, 16, and 11. My oldest will be a sophomore at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA; number 2 will be getting his driver's license and beginning his college search, and the youngest will be in 6th grade.
College
Attended the U of I in Champaign and graduated on time in 1978 - go figure!
Thanks to Betsy Schmitt and exposure to the Physical Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilation program at Sherman Hospital I decided to get my MS in Exercise Physiology/Cardiac Rehabilation from Northeastern Illinois University. Unfortunately I was no "Body by Jake" and headed east to NYC to get a job in corporate fitness.
Workplace
My experience as a personal trainer lead me to NYC - along with a "little" pull from my wife, a NY native. I worked in corporate fitness for almost 5 yrs and had the pl...Expand for more
easure of meeting some of the heavy hitters in the business world.
I was extremely friendly with the CEO of Time, Inc., Dick Monroe, David and Peggy Rockefeller, yes, those Rockefellers!, and Leo Van Munching of Heineken fame, who had 2 cases of beer delivered at Christmas and again at the 4th of July. There were many others....
I then pursued a sales career in the pharmaceutical industry, spending 11 years at Parke-Davis in a number of positions, and another 2 yrs with a smaller company, first as Director of Business Development and then of Marketing. Anyone ever hear of Neurontin or Lyrica? I was the global product manager for both products in 2000 and Pfizer launched Lyrica last year and it made over a $ Billion in sales in its first year out.
I'm currently heading sales for an interactive agency called Osprey. We create communication tactics for ...you guessed it, the pharmaceutical industry, delivering programs on CDROM, DVD, and Web.
