Dave Blodgett:

CLASS OF 1974
Kalamazoo, MI

Dave's Story

After Graduation from Norrix I went to WMU and got a degree in Education. I was then a substitute teacher and Football Coach in Otsego for a year. In the summer of 1980 I moved to St. Louis Missouri to teach and coach. From 1979 to 1995 I coached at four different High Schools, Otsego, Jennings, Aquinas/Mercy and Cardinal Ritter, with the last three in Missouri. During my sixteen years as a Football Coach I took eleven of my teams to the state play-offs. Unfortunately we never made it all the way to the Show-Me Bowl. But we did get to the Quarter finals five times. I've also coached Track & Field, Basketball and Baseball at the High School level. During that time I earned a Masters Degree in Education from Maryville University and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In addition to teaching I was a Middle School Principal (5 years) and have been a Central Office Administrator, Curriculum Coordinator and Director (10 years and counting). I'm also an Adjunct Professor at William Woods University here in Missouri. I teach in their Educatinal Administration and Athletic Administration Masters Programs. For the Athletic Administration program I wrote 60% of the Curriculum to help the University get it going. I plan to retire in a few years. After that I want to drive the train at the St. Louis Zoo four days a week and play Golf at any one of the 60 plus Golf Courses within 50 miles of my house the rest of the time. On weekends I'll go to my Condo down at the Lake of the Ozarks and play Golf at anyone of the 40 courses they have there. iends and we gig from time to time, nothing big. I just keep the beat and try not to screw up. Don't worry we are not putting out a CD or anything we just like playing together and have a great time doing it. I can understand now why most of those guys are on drugs, cause playing a two or three hour set is not an easy thing to do. It sometimes takes me two days to recover after a long set. My wife Kay and I have two grown children, Matthew and Aimee. Matthew graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and Aimee graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Matthew bought into a business and is doing great.. Between the two of them they have provided us with the greatest gifts of all, four grandchildren. Matthew has three children Charlie (12 years old), Grace (10 years old) and Victoria (8 years old Aimee has given us David (10 years old). They are the JOYS of my life. I am crazy about all four of them. St. Louis is a great place to live and raise a family. God did a great thing by sending me here. I've enjoyed ever minute of it and have had some wonderful experiences. If any of you are ever in the area look me up. Health wise I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in. No diseases, blood pressure problems or anything. The only thing is I've had two knee replacements, my right knee in 2007 and my left knee in 2008. These are the greatest things since sliced bread, they are wonderful. I workout a couple times a week at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) also known as the "J" It is the best club in St. Louis. I still need to lose a few pounds, but I'm working on it. Well thats about all there is now from the great state of Missouri. Hope to talk to many of you soon. Dave Blodgett
