David's Story

Life My Spouse My first wife and mother of my two sons is Diana Moseson, the valedictorian of our SPHS class. I met my wife, Anne Andrews, in 1976 at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab shortly after I started working there when a coworker referred her to me for information about submarine electromagnetic logs. We've been married since 1987. My Kids Scott is married, an architect in Florida, and the father of my four grand children. Mark is coaching the Southern Oregon U. Lacrosse team and working to get the sport into the local high schools. My Job A nice mix of shipboard testing, computer-...Expand for more
aided data analysis, engineering evaluation, procedure writing, technical presentations, and operator training -- all as a member of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory supporting the U.S. and United Kingdom submarine forces -- until 7 1/2 years ago when the Director of Navy Strategic Systems Programs asked me to take over as Submarine Navigation Branch Chief Engineer for a few years. A few years turned into seven, but I left government service in January 2015. I am back at APL in a temp-on-call status, enjoying the reduced stress of semi-retirement while staying in the game when needed.

My son Mark and fiancee Sunaura had to cancel the big wedding planned for last June but the marriage couldn't wait any longer. On January 30th, they exchanged the most sincere and beautiful vows overlooking the Rogue River.
Just back from the first day of the Maryland Senior Olympics. This was the first held in 2 years and the first for my new knees. No medals and nothing strained or broken. "To participate is to win!"

Oh yeah, my pandemic
Didn't know the Maryland Comptroller was a Senior Olympics fan -- or running for a higher office -- but I was happy to get the nice note.
After several gray days, the snow finally brought out the sun for us.
First 2020 snow
Tie Dye finger painting magic.
The best ever High Sierra crew!
Starter at S. Antonio Restaurant in Sorrento!
First day of spring in Maryland.
One proud grandpa!
No problem finding my car in the APL parking lot -- as long as I double check the license plate. Mine ends in 23.
CBBF weather was perfect for the ducks.
With Anne for brunch .
Front & center for Samantha Fish. No zoom needed. Awesome first set!
With Mark and Sunaura at Patrick Verdun and RachelNorton wedding in West Linn Oregon.
Glad I snapped a garden photo before last night's rain washed out the rhododendron!
The awesome 2017 High Sierra crew!
Sunday morning at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ... and then my class of 1965 celebrated our 50th reunion by emerging from that tunnel in the foreground (the same one the football team uses) in our caps an
OK, just one more high jump photo. This one was from Maryland Senior Olympics in 2008, a couple of years earlier (younger) than the other two.
I'm posting today to mark my decision to have rotator cuff surgery next Frida
This weekend, I am participating in a reunion of my high school class of 1961, so I was going through the year book and spotted this photo from the days when I could clear my height.
