Dave's Story

Life After high school I took some ill fated advice and forewent higher education and started straight to work. After six years of dead end jobs and living paycheck to paycheck, I decided something needed to be done. On October 2, 1998 in the aftermath of hurricane George, I moved to Orlando, Florida and went to Florida Tech for a degree in computer science. I graduated from Fla. Tech in June, 2000 and immediatly moved home to Tulsa. In 2003 the Tulsa economy was getting shakey and an old employer offered me a wad of cash to move to Arkansas so I did. Thats where I met Jen. In September, 2005 I married Jennifer Baker, the most beautiful attorney I have ever laid eyes on. We have no kids yet, but we are working hard to resolve that. (wink) I am currently the regional warranty rep for Dell Computers. I am also still in school at John Brown University finishing up my bachelors degree. After that I plan to attend the Sam Walton School of Business at the University of Arkansas. In 2002 I did a small radio gig in Tulsa as a character named "RoommateDave" for 99.5 "The Bull".. I even got one of my songs "cereal lover" in the rotation for two weeks. Its no wonder that station went under. (grin) School I dont know that I would change a thing if I could do it over again. I am pretty happy with who I have become and all of my experiences shaped me into who I am today. Every single teacher I had has had an impact in some way on my life, but I can list three of them who seemed to be just a touch above and beyond. Mrs Johnson The Band teacher. I spent more ...Expand for more
time with her then any other teacher. Mrs. Johnson, I have a secret that I have never let you in on. I can't read a note of music. I would sit and listen to Christy Hughes and by what she played, I could fake my way through anything. This is why when Christy graduated and you offered me first chair trumpet I had to refuse. I wouldn't have known what to play.To this day I can't even tell you what key I play in, but I wrote and recorded my own wedding music and I play piano every single day. Mrs Barnes, My english teacher. You seemed to believe in me just a little more then any other teacher. You gave me just a little more praise and I always felt just a little better about myself after talking to you. Mrs Cooper, My 6th grade science teacher Okay.. This was my gradeschool crush. I don't know what made Mrs Cooper so yummy.. but to me she was a goddess! Lets see.. Girl crushes.. I always liked Heather Suttan (sp?) I always thought she was really pretty. I liked Lisa Inman, not because she was cute, but because she was incredibly smart. I tend to gravitate to smart chicks. Gayle Rice, To me, Gayle was a perfect lady. She was beautiful, but not slutty. Smart but not pretentious. The kind of girl you take home to mamma. Christy Hughes, She was pretty and we had a lot in common. Its unfortunate that to her I was nothing more then a pesky baby brother. If I had to narrow my high school crushes down to one girl, it would probably have to be Lori Ann Pearson. I don't know why, she wasn't good looking or even all that smart, but she smelled good and she sang pretty.
