Dave's Story

"Grew up" in Eugene and attended Monroe JrHi and Sheldon. Then went to Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA and graduated with a double degree in math and physics. In 1980, went to Colorado State University and earned an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Then in 1981 began working for Lockheed Martin (was Martin Marietta then) doing all sorts of "software things". Later in about 2004 he earned a second M.S. in Space Systems Operations Management at Webster University - Denver. Have been at Lockheed Martin since 1980 and have worked on many incredible programs. For instance, developing, testing and operating space exploration spacecraft for NASA to Mars, Saturn's moon Titan, the sun, a comet and an astrophysical observatory. Now working in mission operations where we are flying (a.k.a., driving or operating) five deep space missions; two orbiting Mars, another on its way to Mars, one on its way to Jupiter and an infrared space telescope. These will be joined by two more in the next couple of years; a Mars lander and an asteroid sample return (will fly to an asteroid, take ...Expand for more
some samples, and bring them back to Earth). Dave has been married to Linda Prozeller Tobin since September 2012. Linda used to work in international television sales and worked directly for Aaron Spelling. She now has a second, "giving-back" career as a trained and certified chef preparing the best hospital food in the state at a small, acute-care hospital in Denver. Together, Linda and Dave have traveled to Moscow, Australia, Mexico City and France. Their next trip may be to England, Scotland and Ireland. Dave is also an adjunct professor in the Webster University Graduate School and in the Metropolitan State University of Denver undergraduate Space Commercialization program. He typically teaches 5 - 6 courses each year. Dave no longer plays the saxophone or piano, ... but he does enjoy single malt scotch, premium, hand-made cigars, and reading the biographies of physicists and mathematicians such as Dirac and Erdos. He is considering pursuing a PhD in Systems Engineering starting this fall at Colorado State University with former NASA astronaut, Dr Ron Sega.

True. But it just doesn't matter. The top 20% may be at 82% now, but that number will never go down. It will reach 90%, then 92%, then, ...
Seriously. Congressional members need to start paying 10X more for everything.
Too bad it still won't come close to compensating the rest of the nation they're supposed to represent for the economic damage they did last w

The bright blue star at the center of this image is a B-type supergiant named Kappa Cassiopeiae, 4,000 light-years away. As stars in our galaxy go it’s pretty big — over 57 million kilometers wide, about 41 times the radius
