Dave's Story

--Interrogative to anyone trying to send me an email: Please use my email listed at the bottom of this story section (thanks).-- I left for Navy boot camp the morning after the senior all-nighter to join the reserves and get some $ for college. For more college cash I worked as a lifeguard, loader at UPS, and even tutored calculus (I know..., I couldn't believe it either; it's amazing what happens when you actually do the homework...). While attending EWU, I converted from the Navy reserves to a Marine officer program. After finishing officer candidate school, and graduating from EWU, I went to a school that all Marine Officers attend called "The Basic School" in Quantico Virginia. Upon completion of TBS I went through various stages of flight training in Pensacola, Florida and Corpus Christi, Texas while dodging a few hurricanes in both locations. The last 6 1/2 yrs of active duty I was stationed in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Island fever set in after about a yr. Of the last 3 yrs that I was stationed there I was only "on" the island about 1yr and deployed the other 2. While on active duty I was a pilot and flew the CH53 (basically it's a "really big" helicopter). I also served with a ground unit as a Forward Air Controller (basically talking aircraft onto targets or into landing zones). Outside the good ole' USA, I've been to India, Korea, Japan, T...Expand for more
hailand, Singapore, Guam, Australia, and Canada. I plan on doing more traveling in the future. Since leaving active duty I'm still a Major serving in a component of the Marine Corps reserve. Now I'm enjoying a relaxed lifestyle now and enjoy staying engaged in the stock market as well as doing misc things in the yard. I've considered doing something out at Fairchild but haven't to this point. I've also considered opening up a business but not while the economy is in the funk that it currently resides... I'm looking into becoming a volunteer firefighter though because our local volunteer fire station is presently understaffed. I can be emailed at flyerd1 at yahoo dot com. I "believe" I was on good terms with just about everyone in high school and it was 20yrs ago anyway so feel free to send a hello... Wow, I still have 18K characters left! Who uses all those characters...??? BTW, I think some people (you know who you are) need to write "something" and post at least "one" photo... Also, if you're not a "gold member", and you want to get in touch with someone, try leaving your email address in the story section (remember to break it up otherwise it won't get posted). Then you can write a comment on someone's picture or ask them to be your friend so they will be alerted to check your bio and get the email they can contact you at... ;-) Best wishes to everyone, Dave
