Dave's Story

Finally discovered that I had a personality during undergrad school at UM. Definitely a late bloomer, but managed to make up for lost time. Ann Arbor in the mid- to late-60s was amazing. Spent a few years with Uncle Sam (tour in Vietnam in 69-70) before using the GI bill for grad school. Married Joan Law in '73. Welcomed son John in '81 shortly after starting a post-doctoral research program back at UM. Completed biomed research career in 2005, five years after Joan passed away from complications of multiple sclerosis - she had an awesome life in spite of the disease. tened my own life in 1984. Since 2006, have been serving as the Executive Director for Joy-Southfield Community Development Corp, a nonprofit organization in Detroit. We offer free primary and preventive care to the uninsured, affordable housing, and youth/family mentoring. Although I was content to remain single after a long & valuable marriage, fate smiled again and I married Marion Law, a beautiful Scottish Lass, in August 2008. She is truly awesome and I'm glad to also have acquired a great stepson, stepdaughter & step son-in-law. Our blended family gets along very well. No plans to retire any time soon. Plenty of time for that on the other side of the sod.
