Dave's Story

[edited -- June 15,, 2012] "When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained." --Mark Twain[1] --------------------------------------------------------------- My Story -- The Mysteries Disappear Born: Albuquerque, NM, summer of '47. Died: Still kicking... ... the can down the road. The Road. Where I have always been the absolute... happiest. Still. Next trip, very soon... HiWay One, Santa Barbara to Big Sur. In my VW camper-bus. Used to be blue, is now painted quite differently. Long leisurely time along that Pacific coastal road and then on up to Seattle Sound. Visit my old friends... the mighty majestic redwood trees, along the way. That's about it.[2] ... [9] ---------------------------------------------------- Liner notes: [1] One of my favorite authors. Another apt quote attributed to him -- "Tell somebody else's story as if it were your own. Tell your own story as if it had happened to somebody else." [2] .... ss stuff can, following the fact, and after a good night's sleep... be awful curious. The "bleeding out," a required -- catharsis. Only occasionally -- a public one. If the original impulse is truly honest. And, as long as impulse does not become.. compulsion. So, as one of those Chroniclers of Our Times would sing it..."let it be, let it be." And too, here we must heed Ptolemy -- "It is vain to do with more what can be done with fewer." Doesn't always apply, no, most certainly not (RE: Jack Kerouac, for one), but, in this instance, it probably did. Yep, a gathering Self consciousness will surely impair narrative. Huh, and besides. Can a sentence have too many -- commas? Dashes? Ellipses? Ah well, ain't Life -- just -- grand! And, a'times... maddening. It's now sufficient. See you'all down the Glory Road a piece. [smile] Finally, and by far the most important last thing to say -- RIP one-time Sweeheart, rest in peace. You are forever lovingly remembered. ----------------------------- ...
